Review: The Simple Life by Tara Sivec

Today, I get to bring to you the fantastic Tara Sivec’s newest standalone novel, The Simple Life.  This is a perfect fall romance novel with all the steamy scenes and snarky comments.  For my full review, keep reading after the blurb.  Believe me you will want to run out and pick this up as soon as you read it.

Brooklyn Manning thought her life was perfect in every way, until it crumbled down around her and turned into a dumpster fire. With her pride wounded and her tail tucked between her legs, she leaves New York and goes back to her tiny hometown of White Timber, Montana.

No more twenty-four-hour taco trucks, no more shopping at the best designer stores within walking distance, no more giving taxi drivers the finger when they angrily honk at her. She didn’t think it could get any worse. But then Clint Hastings walked into the room and insulted her.

Her arch nemesis from high school is no longer a nerdy computer whiz, masturbating to pictures in PC World magazine in his free time (allegedly). He’s grown up to be a hot-as-hell cowboy, and she has no other choice but to be a smart ass right back to him. After all, it’s what they do. It’s what they’ve always done, and twelve years apart hasn’t changed anything.

Only this time, getting under each other’s skin is a hell of a lot more fun than it used to be.

Review:

Brooke had the perfect life in New York.  She had the perfect job, life and boyfriend.  That is until her boyfriend’s wife shows up and knocks her out and pictures laying with her panties showing are everywhere now.  Now, she needs to go back to the one place she’d never go back.  After a few weeks, she finds a job as a nanny.  This is a good temp job for her except two things.  1. She hates kids 2. The father of these kids is her childhood nemesis, Clint.  Since she is stuck she might as well make do and try to survive the children and her building attraction to Clint.  When childhood misunderstandings and past hurts finally get cleared up where does that finally leave them?  Can Brooke really come home and forget about her perfect life in New York?

This is simply one of the sweetest, sexiest and funny books you will read this fall.  Brooke is definitely not a loveable character in the beginning.  Her haughty manner and better than everyone else attitude really turns you against her.  Clint is arrogant, rude and spiteful.  As their story develops and their relationship with each other and Clint’s girls they really become characters that you love.  Tara Sivec does a phenomenal job building up the sexual tension between the two of them.  When they finally kiss its just as sexy as any sex scene.  Along with Clint and Brooke are the unforgettable friends and family that don’t forget anything because it is a small town.  If you are looking for your next great love story for your fall cozy up and read days, then look no further.

Review: Kiss the Girl by Tara Sivec

I am so happy to bring to you the final book in the Naughty Princess Club series.  Ariel’s story is everything we wanted it to be.  It is laugh out loud funny.  Incredibly witty dialogue and characters you will never forget will make this one book you won’t want to put down.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.  I guarantee if you haven’t picked up this series yet, you will want to do that immediately.

A struggling antiques collector finds herself falling in love with a millionaire playboy; but can she ever be a part of his world?

Meet the Naughty Princess Club, a series from USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec that brings readers to Fairytale Lane and the hilarity—and romance—that three women fall into once they decide to strut their stuff and bring on their own happily ever after.

While her friends have broken free of their insecurities, Ariel Waters is struggling to come out of her shell. Her ex-husband took away her voice and her self-confidence, and Ariel is drowning under a sea of debt to afford the alimony she has to pay him. She refuses to ever fall for a man’s charms again, and is determined to make her own way.

When her house and her beloved antiques are taken by the bank after too many missed payments, Ariel finds herself adrift until the infuriatingly charming Eric Sailor comes to her rescue. Although she can’t stand the millionaire playboy, Eric’s kindness and unconditional support reveal hidden depths and a love that Ariel never imagined she could find.

But there are outside influences who will stop at nothing to keep them apart; can Ariel and Eric weather the storm and find a way to be together?

Review:

Ariel’s life is crumbling down around her.  The one person there to help pick up the pieces is the most annoyingly handsome man she’s ever met.  Ariel doesn’t ever want to rely on a man again.  All Eric wants to do is help her get back on her feet and show her that all men aren’t like the one that destroyed her self confidence.  Ariel fights her feelings tooth and nail but those dimples and his hairless cat wears her down.  Will Ariel finally become the naughty princess that she’s always been or will her fear hold her down for good?

I LOVED THIS BOOK!  Ariel was always my favorite character in this series.  Her book did not disappoint.  Ariel and Eric are the perfect duo.  She is so rough around the edges and though you think at first Eric is just a shallow guy but he is so much more.  The banter between the two of them is priceless.  It is truly some of the best work by Tara Sivec.  She is the queen of laugh out loud dialogue that only a few people would actually say out loud.  Ariel reminds me of the characters in her Chocolate Lovers series.  She doesn’t hold anything back.  In the end, Ariel is so much more than just the bawdy, no-holds bar chick.  She has a heart…though if she were here she’d definitely stab me in the throat for saying that.  Overall, I will miss this series terribly.  I can’t wait to see what Tara Sivec comes up with next.

Review: In Bed with the Beast by Tara Sivec

Happy Monday!  Today and tomorrow is going to be a really busy day for me on here.  Be sure to stay tuned for some reads you don’t want to miss.  Today’s first is by one of my favorite authors, Tara Sivec.  This is the second book in her newest series, The Naughty Princess Club.  Welcome to a naughty version of Beauty and the Beast.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.

Meet the Naughty Princess Club, a series from USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec that brings readers to Fairytale Lane and the hilarity—and romance—that three women fall into once they decide to strut their stuff and bring on their own happily ever after.

Living in her overprotective dad’s basement, shy Belle lives her life through books. Being a part of the Naughty Princess Club is the first adventure she’s ever had, plus she desperately needs the money to save one of her favorite places – the local library.

But when her new friends and new business gets her kicked out of her dad’s house, Belle is rescued by the surly Vincent “Beast” Adams who invites her to be his house guest until she gets back on her feet. Despite his attitude problem and long list of rules, Belle finds herself warming to the muscled man with a penchant for growling and starts seeing a gentle side to him that wasn’t there before.

Yet there’s a room that Beast keeps locked and Belle keeps getting hints that Beast is hiding something…can a nerdy librarian tame the beast or will their romance be over before it has a chance to blossom?

Review:

Belle is tired of living in her dad’s basement.  Her only outlet is the library she works out of and her new friends stripping business.  Her father doesn’t approve of her new friends or their business.  Kicking Belle out forces her to live in the library.  That is until Vincent “Beast”  realizes what she is doing.  With his growling and attitude he forces her to come live with him.  They see that the chemistry between the two of them burns so bright.  Can the beauty who spouts trivia and the Beast act on their feelings or will lies force them apart for good?

I was so excited for this book.  Beauty and the Beast is one of my all time favorite fairy tales.  This was a fantastic take on the tale.  Belle is quirky and quite fun.  Beast lives up to his name.  Once the two of them really open up to each other the sexy times really steam of the pages.  Just like the previous book, the fairy tale base is essential but that is where it ends.  The characters of all the naughty princesses and their heroes are so unique, funny and entertaining.  We get to see Ariel and her mouth, along with Cindy and PJ, who have not stopped their frisky behavior.  If you are looking for a great fun sexy book for your summer reading I guarantee you that this is exactly what you are looking for.  I can’t wait for Ariel’s book next.  Tara Sivec really comes through with an entertaining story that will make you blush and laugh out loud.

Excerpt

Closing my eyes, I take a few deep, calming breaths as I stand behind a black velvet curtain in the dimly lit backstage area. An erotic song that I don’t recognize plays through the club on the other side of the curtain, the heavy, thumping bass from the music vibrating through my body.

“You can do this. It’s just like you’ve been practicing. Close your eyes and pretend you’re just dancing in your bedroom,” I whisper to myself.

“Do you normally have over a hundred complete strangers in your bedroom watching you take your clothes off while dancing to a horrible ’80s song?”

My pep talk is interrupted and my eyes fly open to find my friend, Ariel standing next to me backstage. It still feels weird to call her my friend, considering a few months ago I had no desire to ever speak to her, let alone get to know her. But, she’s one of the reasons I’m standing here right now, getting ready to do something I never thought I’d do. Sure, it’s an unusual way to make your dreams come true, but everyone has to start somewhere.

“I took your advice and chose another song. But just so you know, ‘Eternal Flame’ by the Bangles is not a horrible eighties song. ‘Is this burning, an eternal flame’ is a beautiful and passionate lyric,” I argue with her, my voice rising to be heard over the catcalls, whistling, and clapping happening on the other side of the curtain, as the woman who went on before me finishes up her performance.

“If it’s burning eternally, it’s probably chlamydia,” Ariel deadpans.

“Is this your idea of pep talk?”

“Do you need a pep talk?” Ariel questions, with a confused look on her face.

“Have we met?!” I shout hysterically. “Do you think this is something I’m a hundred percent confident about right now? I feel sick. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea. I don’t think I’ve had enough practice.”

I start to back away from the curtain when she reaches out and grabs my arm to stop me from running as fast as I can off this stage and out of this club.

“You’ve had enough practice. You finally let your hair down, literally and figuratively,” she reminds me as I tentatively run my fingers through my long blond hair, which she recently convinced me to put caramel highlights in and which has been curled and teased and hangs around my shoulders and halfway down my back. “This is where your future begins, babe. Right here. On this stage. This is where you take back your life and give a giant fuck you to that dipshit of an ex-husband. And that hot piece of man meat out there in the audience who has no idea what’s about to hit him.”

My eyes start to burn as they fill with tears, and I quickly blink them back before they ruin the perfect cat-eye eyeliner and false lashes she applied for me in the dressing room an hour ago.

“That was the sweetest thing you’ve ever said to me,” I tell her with a sniffle.

“Just think: Instead of having that giant pole up your ass, you’ll have it in the palm of your hands and be swinging on it in about forty-five seconds,” she says with a smirk.

“And then you go and completely ruin it,” I mutter with a shake of my head, taking another deep breath and turning away from her to face the curtains again.

“You’ll be fine. It’s two minutes and thirty-five seconds of your life. It will be over before you know it,” she reassures me with a pat on the back.

“I need my Clorox wipes,” I mumble nervously, bringing one hand up to my mouth and chewing nervously on my thumbnail.

She smacks my hand away and rolls her eyes.

“You do not need your Clorox wipes. That pole is clean. Ish. You know what? Don’t think about the pole and all the vaginas that have spun on it before you tonight. Think about how freeing this will be. Think about your business. Our business. Think about being independent and paying your own bills and banging the hot-as-balls man out in the audience who will most likely lose his shit when he sees you walk out on that stage,” she says with a wag of her eyebrows.

“I’m not going to . . . do that with him,” I reply indignantly, even though just the thought of being naked in a bed with that man makes me feel all warm and tingly.

“For fuck’s sake, you can say the word bang. God will not kill a kitten if you say the word bang. And you’re totally going to bang that man like a screen door in a hurricane. Especially when he sees you in this outfit,” she states, looking me up and down. “Well, the outfit you have on underneath that thing.”

I take a second to look down at myself and smile. He told me to never, ever wear this costume again, and I did it just to irritate him. And to see the look on his face when I take it off. I’m not the prude he thinks I am. I can change. I can be sexy and outgoing and do something completely outrageous and not in my comfort zone.

“I can do this,” I state with a nod of my head.

“Hell yeah you can!” Ariel cheers, bumping her shoulder against mine. “Just don’t trip and fall on your face in those ridiculously high heels. Biting it and smacking your face onto the stage is not hot.”

I glare at her, and she holds her hands up and begins backing away.

“You’ve got this. Shake your ass and make momma some money!” she shouts before disappearing around a corner to go out into the audience and cheer me on.

“Let’s give a great big round of applause to Tiffany! We’ve got an extra-special treat for you next. Get your dollar bills ready, folks. Straight from the castle, looking for her very own Prince Charming, is the hottest princess you’ll ever meet! Put your hands together for Cinderella!”

Letting out a long, slow breath, I grab onto the velvet curtain and yank it open, pasting a smile on my face and ignoring the butterflies flapping around in my stomach as I make my way on stage.

I can do this.

I’m going to go out there and show everyone that it’s possible for a housewife to make something of herself. Even if she has to make it by being a stripper.

Review: At the Stroke of Midnight by Tara Sivec

Today, I get to bring to you one of my favorite authors.  Her unique humor, unfiltered way of writing and natural story telling makes me love every book I read by her.   Tara Sivec’s newest series, The Naughty Princess Club, goes back to her hilarious dialogue like that in her Chocolate lovers series.  I guarentee with this one book you will become a fan as I am.  Keep reading after the blurb for my full review.

Review:

Cindy is the picture perfect housewife and PTA mom.  Unfortunately, this is only a facade.  She is barely holding onto her house, her sanity and her daughter.  She knows she needs to get a job and soon.  When she meets Ariel in a very memorable way the two develop a very unique friendship and business plan.  What Cindy doesn’t account for is PJ.  His sexiness is overwhelming.  What really appalls her is that he is an owner of a strip club.  How could she possibly be involved in that kind of life?  When you are really down and out is when you discover who you are and what you’re made of.

This is already my favorite book of the year.  Cindy, Ariel and Belle had me laughing outloud like I was a lunatic.  They are relatable characters that really have no filters and really don’t care.  Tara Sivec writes humor and romance like no other author.  The Naughty Princess Club is definitely going to be the new thing women want to do.  Instead of book clubs its going to be strip clubs (pun intended).  Not only is the dialogue fantastic but the character development is up there with the best of dramas.  Seeing Cindy become who she becomes is amazing.  Not to mention the very sexy PJ and their sexy times make kindles steam up.  If you haven’t picked up a Tara Sivec book,  you need to start with this one.

How much can a man take before he breaks?

1,843 days. That’s how long I survived in that hellhole. They tried to break me, but I resisted. And I owe it all to the memory of warm summer nights, the scent of peaches, and the one woman who loved me more than I ever deserved to be loved. Now, I’ll do anything to get back to her.

Only Shelby Eubanks isn’t the girl I left behind all those years ago. She’s someone else, a stranger. My Shelby-my little green-eyed firecracker-would never give up her dreams, would never disappear into her mother’s ambitions. But I won’t give up on her. On us. I may be broken, and scarred, and not the man I used to be, but I will do whatever it takes to remind her of the story of us.

Review: Below Deck by Tara Sivec

As most of you know by now I have a huge fan of Tara Sivec.  I have been privileged enough to now be on her reviewers list.  You will get to see all her stuff before it comes out.  So today, I get to bring to you her newest book, Below Deck.  You will love the humor, sexy talk and an addictive story that will have you turned the page faster to see what happens next.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

Declan McGillis can’t stand rich people. But working as a deckhand on a luxury charter yacht, he also can’t escape them. Declan has spent years kissing their ass and doing their bidding…whatever it takes to make his dreams come true, and nothing will get in his way of being the captain of his own yacht one day.

Mackenzie Armstrong knows what people think when they look at her. She knows from the outside looking in, it seems like her family has it all and doesn’t have a care in the world. Things aren’t always what they seem, and not only does Mackenzie have the weight of her family’s struggles on her shoulders, she also needs to prove to Declan that she’s not the spoiled princess he believes her to be.

Declan can’t ignore the sparks of lust between them, even though Mackenzie is completely off limits and absolutely out of his league.

Mackenzie thinks a vacation fling is just what she needs to forget about the mess her life has become, and Declan is the perfect man for the job.

Will this be a quick romp in the water, or will it turn into something more when Mackenzie finally gets below Deck?

Review:

Declan is just buying his time until he can pass his captain’s exam and run his own ship.  He doesn’t need any distractions.  What he doesn’t count on is the weatlhy Mackenzie to step aboard his ship.  Figuring she is just another trust fund princess he tries to push her and his attraction to her away.  But, when their attraction over comes them both can they overcome their misconceptions and find happiness with each other?

I love Tara Sivec books.  They always seem to end too quickly.  Like most of her characters they mostly have no filter and you instantly love them for their cander.  the love story between Declan and Mackenzie is part Pride and Prejudice and part steamy erotic novel of your choice.  The story is fantastic and quite relatable.  I think anyone reading this will want to go on a yacht just to meet a very sexy deckhand or captain or chef.  The setting is gorgeous and will have you going on travelocity to see how much a Caribbean trip will be.  Overall, when you pick this book up you will not put it down til the very end.  I can’t wait for the next wonderful Tara Sivec book to come out.
