Title: Book of Souls

Author: Nadine Nightingale

Genre: Paranormal Romance

About Book of Souls:

They call me Angel of Death, but my name is Nisha Blake. I am Shepherdstown’s living urban legend. My life, a tale of the macabre.

People avoid me like the plague. Well, everyone but my friends. They don’t see the Angel of Death when they look at me. They see poor, broken Nisha—the bully victim, suffering from vicious night terrors and vivid hallucinations.

Things take a turn for the worse when Blaze shows up. He’s a too hot, tattooed, bad-ass MMA fighter from London, hell-bent on getting to know me. Since he walked into my miserable life, my hallucinations graduated to a point where I can no longer differentiate between fiction and reality.

I am insane.
Broken beyond repair.
Or so I think until—

I uncover a secret form the past—a link between all the deaths, my hallucinations, and my night terrors. It’s then I understand I’m not the Angel of Death.

I am something else.
Someone else.

Review:

Nisha is the town outcast.  Thought of as the local Angel of Death she lives through ridicule, bullying and so much more.  When Blaze enters her life she tries to distance herself.  Knowing that there is a chance of endangering him.  While she tries to live a normal life and tries to keep her friends and family safe, her delusions become more than she can accept.  Something more is coming over her.  Will she be able to survive knowing who or what she really is?

This was a fantastic new read.  I have found a new author and series.  This young adult book brings alive a wonderful world of Egyptian Gods, real life teenage strife and love.  The story is wonderfully weaved with memorable characters and a story that grabs hold and won’t let go.  Nisha and Blaze are two very complex characters for being teenagers.  They are definitely older than their years and it shows in the story and relationship with them and their friends.  Along with the wonderful Nisha and Blaze we have their friends: Izzy, Oz, Shaggy and Scooby.  I had to read the last two names twice the first time I read it they do add a wonderful lightness to a fairly deep and complex paranormal story.  After reading this book, I find I cannot wait for the next wonderful installment in this series.  There is so much to look forward to.

Review: Mind Waves (Mind Hackers #1) by Amanda Uhl

Happy Monday!  Today I am bringing to you a new to me author.  This is truly a unique and interesting story.  It will definitely have you questioning the power of the mind.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

31750014Book Blurb:

If he can control her mind…
Government operative David Jenkins is skilled at controlling his emotions. Feelings are lethal when your job is to infiltrate minds, erase and implant thoughts, and guard the nation’s intellectual capital. But even he can’t fight his strange attraction to Grace Woznisky. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect her from a madman intent on possessing both their minds. Neither suspect their dangerous enemy has a larger motive, and David may be Grace’s only chance for survival.

Can he control her heart?
All freelance artist Grace wants is steady-paying work and to see her flighty sister to the altar. But after David offers her a job, she finds herself in the middle of a mental tug of war—one that has her reeling from nightmares and fighting for her life. She must decide: Are her growing feelings for her new boss authentic, or is she a victim of his mind-altering abilities?

Review:

All Grace wants is a steady paying job and to make sure her sister finally gets married.  When she meets David she doesn’t expect the effect he will have on her and her life.  David has special mind altering abilities.  He has been on semi-retirement until an unknown hacker sets his sights on him and Grace.  Can he protect everyone he loves along with saving Grace?  In the end will Grace be able to follow her heart instead of her mind?

I really enjoyed this book.  The story was unique and well written.  The idea of people being able to control minds and memory isn’t a new idea but the visual that Amanda Uhl brings to the idea is truly special.  I also loved the very sweet love story between David and Grace.  The reader can truly feel their connection.  I look forward to the next in this series.  If you are looking for a new book and author I would highly recommend Amanda Uhl and Mind Waves.

Review: My Brother’s Keeper (The Guardians #2) by JJ King

Happy Monday!  Today I am bringing to you the next book in J.J King’s The Guardians series. We get to see more of Katherine and Quinn but the love story in the center of this one is Keme and Daphne.  I really loved them.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

32960621Book Blurb:

When Daphne Dru gets a phone call in the middle of the night from her Alpha’s son, she can’t imagine just how life changing that call will be. Daphne’s friend is in danger and so is the life of her unborn child. Only she’s not just a friend, Katherine LaFlamme is the first born daughter of one of the North American Alphas.

Katherine’s family is in danger but no one can pin down the source. More than one hunter has been spotted around Katherine’s family home, people and wolves have been dying, and the ruling structure of North America is shifting.

Daphne offers sanctuary until the baby is born and it’s safe enough to return home. Thrown together, Daphne and Keme do their best to focus on their friends’ safety, despite the intense chemistry that ignites between them.

Just when they think they’re safe, an old enemy resurfaces and, once again, Katherine’s life is in peril, but now it’s not just her and Quinn fighting back. Daphne and Keme are swept up in a storm of ancient lies that might just leave Wolfkind changed forever.

Review:

When Keme calls Daphne for help to hid Katherine, Quinn and their unborn child.  Daphne steps up and turns her home into a comfortable place for them.  As their stay extends longer so does the depth of Keme and Daphne’s relationship.  Just as their relationship solidifies so does the danger for Katherine.  Soon the danger will impact Katherine and her family in a way that will change them forever.

This was a really interesting second book.  It wasn’t what I expected.  I expected this to be all about Keme and Daphne.  Instead their love story was almost an aside to the drama that followed Katherine.  Both aspects were very well written and exciting.  I loved learning more about Keme and Daphne.  Their personal stories were very interesting and truly added a lot to the book.  Its not only the characters that made this story good it was also a lot of the emotion that this book contains.  Without spoiling anything you will need tissues by the time you finish this book.  Overall, if you liked the first Guardians book you will enjoy this next installment.  You do need to read the first book to enjoy this one.

Review: Cloaked in Christmas by T.F Walsh

Happy Friday!  Today I get to share with you a Christmas novella in T.F Walsh’s Wulkin series.  Wulfkins and Christmas don’t normal mix but with this sexy love story with Christmas and a bit of danger mixed it will be a Christmas novella no one will want to miss.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a wonderful weekend!

32712763Book Blurb:

After fleeing her abusive ex, wulfkin Cacey Varg and her daughter settle happily with a new pack in Finland. As Christmas approaches, Cacey learns her ex has found them and is on his way to take their daughter back. But a massive snowstorm prevents her from packing up and leaving town—and instead delivers a sexy stranger to her doorstep. Can she trust that he isn’t one of her ex’s henchmen?

Second-in-command to Europe’s most powerful wulfkin, hunter Vincent Lyall’s spur-of-the-moment decision to check on his ailing mother soon finds him marooned at a cabin in the woods by the blizzard of the century. Trapped with this spirited vixen, resisting temptation is easier said than done… But she refuses to believe he is who he says he is.

Is love powerful enough to win when two sexy wolf shifters, an unwelcome past, and animalistic urges wreak havoc on the holiday season?

Review:

Cacey has finally found a place that is safe for her and her daughter.  But, when she gets a letter from her ex and then runs into a mysterious stranger she knows they are no longer safe.  The stranger is not for her though.  Vincent, the second in command to the Varlac, has come to visit his family.  He soon finds he and Cacey are undeniably attracted to one another.  Can the two of them come together to fight her past and maybe have a future?

I love this Wulkin series.  It is rare that you find a paranormal story that can fit into a Christmas tale.  T.F Walsh does a phenomenal job.  Staying true to the suspense and romance that is a signature of this series but also incorporates the magic of Christmas.  Cacey and Vincent are great characters.  Vincent was a minor character in Marcin’s book  but I love that he has his own happily ever after.  This was a great story that has so many layers for a novella.  I can’t wait for the next Wulkin book to come out.  You will enjoy this paranormal/romance/holiday/suspenseful book the moment you pick it up.

Review: Dragon Knight’s Ring (Order of the Dragon Knights #5) by Mary Morgan

Hello Everyone!  Yes, I am back from my long break.  What better way to bring us all back together than with a series that I have been following.  Mary Morgan has done it again with Dragon Knight’s Ring.  Meggie and Adam are the couple who started this all and will have a chance to begin again if only they can fight the evil that is haunting them.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  You will find that I have a lot of exciting reviews coming up.  Be sure to stay tuned.

30755271Book Blurb:

Crusader, Adam MacFhearguis is on one last quest to the standing stones in Scotland where he seeks to bury the past. However, a silent prayer sends him to an unknown future and to his beloved Meggie. When he uncovers a shocking revelation, Adam questions everything about the woman he thought he knew and loved. He may have traveled the veil of ages, but time is now his enemy.

Margaret MacKay lives a life in the future without the memories of her past—her death. When Adam arrives at her door confessing he knows her, she is confused and wary. With each passing day, she yearns to learn more from this stranger. Yet, when a truth is revealed, can she trust the man to unlock the chains from her mind and heart?

Will love free the bonds to unite the two lovers who were doomed centuries ago? Or will evil finally claim victory over the Dragon Knights?

Review:

Adam’s life has never been the same since Meggie’s death.  He has been fighting his way through the crusades and found himself back to his home.  When he finds he is a new Dragon Knight he flees again only to find himself flung to another time.  Adam lands in the future to find a Meggie that is no longer dead and has no memory of him.  He learns his job is to help her remember and to stop the ultimate evil from coming into the world and destroying the Dragon Knights.  Can Meggie and Adam reunite and find the love they once had or will the evil destroy everything and threaten the future of the world.

This has been above and beyond my favorite of the Dragon Knights books.  I adored that Meggie and Adam finally get their chance at their happy ending.  Adam is one of the more unique characters.  He is darker with the hurt of losing the love of his life.  He also has the possibility for redemption like all of the Dragon Knights before him.  Meggie was very fun.  She was such an engaging character that really brought depth and emotion to this story.  It has been fitting that the evil truly began with their love ending and with this story they have a chance to bring things to rights.  Mary Morgan has done it again with her Dragon Knights.  I can’t wait to see what she does next.  If you haven’t read any of the Order of the Dragon Knights books I would suggest you begin now.  It is a series you won’t want to miss.

Review: Cloaked in Blood by T.F Walsh

Happy Monday!  Today I am bringing to you the third book in The Wulfkin Legacy series by T.F Walsh.  We meet Marcin, Enre’s brother, and his possible mate, Selena.  This book like the others is a non-stop thrill ride with lots of suspense and romance.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!

29742394Book Blurb:

The daughter of a sultan alpha, Selena Kurt agrees to an arranged wulfkin mating to protect her sister from a dangerous alpha from the enemy clan. To her surprise, her match is Marcin Ulf, the next in line for the Hungarian throne…and the wulfkin who broke her heart years ago.

Marcin is just as shocked to learn he’ll be matched to the enemy’s daughter and the woman he’s never forgotten. Before they can be paired, however, they’re drawn into a tournament where Marcin will compete to free his estranged imprisoned brother, while Selena battles for the life of another wulfkin alpha. Both intend to seize this chance to save those they’re fighting for—even if it means facing off with one another just as their romance rekindles.

Will tribe loyalty triumph, or will they realize they’re better off as a team before it’s too late?

Review:

Selena volunteered to the arranged mating so that her sister didn’t have to, but the prospect of seeing, Marcin, her former love was too enticing.  Marcin is waiting until the right moment to finally take his father down.  When his father brings his brother, Enre and female alpha, Daciana back with him in chains he realizes that there is no time like the present.  But, when his father throws the forced mating of him and his former love he must rethink how he does everything.  He must question her motives, his father’s motives and those around him.  Will Marcin and Selena finally find a way to be together or will his father do what he does best and destroy everything Marcin holds dear?

I really enjoyed Marcin and Selena’s book.  This one really drew me in quicker than the others.  The story moved quickly and kept the reader enthralled.  I felt that the drama of Marcin and Selena’s past blended well with the present story and the things at stake.  I also enjoyed the teasers we got with Victor’s side story and Aisha’s love affair.  It added a little something more to the drama surrounding Marcin and Selena.  I can’t wait to see what will happen next in this series.  T.F Walsh continues to hone this world and her stories.  I have no doubt that the next one will be just as entertaining and exciting as those in the past.

Review: The Angel Killer (The Watcher Saga #2) by Lisa Voisin

Today, I get to bring to you the wonderful second book in the Watcher Saga by Lisa Voisin.  The Angel Killer takes place only a few months after the first book.  Mia finds her friends have now become targets of the demons and fallen angels.  Mia and Michael must figure out why attacks have increased and how they can stop this before everyone they care about is hurt.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Hope your weekend is going great!

51lJai+kZ1L._AC_US160_Book Blurb:

Now that she’s found him again, all Mia Crawford wants is some downtime with her fallen angel boyfriend, Michael. But the call of duty keeps him away—from school and from her—with more demons to smite than ever.

When Michael is mortally wounded by a cursed sword, Mia must perform an ancient blood ritual to save him. But the spell exacts a price. Haunted by visions of war, torture, and despair, Mia discovers the world is in more danger than she ever imagined. Behind the scenes, an evil adversary pulls all the strings.

After redemption, there’s Hell to pay.

Review:

Though her boyfriend, Michael, is an angel, Mia thinks their tough times have passed and they can now begin a normal boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.  But, when Mia’s friends start being attacked and Michael is forced to be away more often then he is with Mia she realizes something very strong is coming.  The angels are on alert and are worried once Michael is injured by a weapon designed to kill angels.  Can they find that weapon before more angels and humans are hurt?  Will Michael and Mia’s love protect them or only doom them?

This book was literally unputdownable.  I loved how this story propelled so naturally.  Michael and Mia’s characters grew in depth as did the story.  This part in the saga really amped up the drama and suspense.  Lisa Voisin has really raised the bar for this series.  Though we are left with a cliffhanger and loss at the end the reader will find themselves anxiously awaiting the next book to find out if Michael, Mia and the angels will survive with their souls intact.  Overall, this series is a unique and exciting addition to the YA genre.  With Lisa Voisin at the helm, the sky is the limit for this world and its characters.
