Review: Cruel Money by K.A Linde

Today, I get to bring to you the first book in the newest trilogy by K.A Linde.  She has truly outdone herself with this first book.  If you love sexy billionaire philosophy professors you will love this book.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.

40200480Book Blurb:

She was supposed to be a one night stand.

A way to sate my sexual appetite.

I let her glimpse the man I am. The face that I hide behind my carefully cultivated life. But she ripped open that divide—and there’s no going back.

Now, she’s here. In my city.

I don’t care that I’m Manhattan royalty and she’s the help.

Only that she’s living in my summer home. With me.

And I want more.

Review:

Natalie’s job takes her to different places.  She is a vacation house sitter for the wealthy.  Taking the job in the Hampton’s doesn’t seem to be any different.  That is until she sees the one man she never wanted to see again.  Penn doesn’t recognize Natalie at first.  He does however, appreciate the beautiful naked woman in front of him.  This awkward reunion only gets worse when his wealthy friends are in the house waiting for him.  Natalie finds herself feeling surprisingly comfortable with these people who grew up rich and are still rich.  But, when a bet is made and truth becomes a gray area Penn and Natalie’s relationship will crumble.  Will Natalie and Penn find a way to fight through or will things break irrevocably?

This book takes place 6 years after the prequel One Cruel Night.   You don’t have to read this before reading Cruel Money, but I would recommend it.  It is currently free to read. One Cruel Night introduces us to Natalie and Penn.  You get a little insight into why Natalie feels the way she does.  That being said, Cruel Money, launches the complex relationship of Penn, Natalie and his “crew”.  Early on you know what the major sticking point with Penn and Natalie will be.  It truly isn’t a surprise.  That being said the drama and emotional turmoil the reader goes through with them is incredible.  If you have seen the movie Cruel Intentions this will feel familiar.  It has a lot of echos of that movie.  Natalie and Penn are fantastic complex characters.  Penn’s crew adds the drama and the dynamics between the ultra rich and the normal person.  This book will leave you begging for the next in this trilogy.  If you like drama, emotion and dynamic characters then you will love this new trilogy by K.A Linde.

Review: The Society (Ascension #4) by K.A Linde

Today, I get the immense pleasure to bring to you the fourth installment of K.A Linde’s Ascension series.  The Society picks up exactly where The Consort left off.  Cyrene and her gang are desperate to find a way to save their world.  What they don’t realize is they will go to places they never knew existed.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.

28577888Book Blurb:

The fourth book in the fantasy Ascension series that NYT bestselling author Susan Dennard called “perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas.”

War is on the horizon.

All while a new power grows strong, threatening the very balance of good and evil.

Desperate to save her homeland, Cyrene goes in search of the dragons that may be the key to ending this battle—and heal her dying friend.

Can Cyrene master her magic to save the world?

Review:

Cyrene finds herself desperate to find help for her bound-sister, Avoca.  While their travels send them in search of mystics and healers she must also learn to control the power within her.  As she is desperate to find answers, Kael has fully taken control of Byern and yearns for even more power.  The network of spies that lie beneath Byern are growing stronger and yearn for a leader to help them take their world from the dark force that is taking it over.  Cyrene knows to win this war she must travel to find the lost dragons.  Will Cyrene be able to do all that is needed and save her friends and the world before the growing power destroys all she holds dear?

OMG!  I can’t even with this book.  I didn’t think this world could get any better than it already was but this book blew my expectations out of the water.  Cyrene’s journey is so enthralling.  Her quest for the dragons, control of her magic and saving Avoca propels this book to a whole new level.  You really sink further into this world and get to see all of the characters grow.  Dean and Cyrene really start to grow back together too.  After the previous book and his betrayal I wasn’t sure if they would be able to salvage anything that happened between them, but their relationship has redeveloped and made their characters more dynamic.  Ahlvie and Avoca are another story that has truly come together finally.  What I truly loved about this book is when the characters that contain the light are present you can almost feel the light radiating off of the page.  In the same token, when the characters that contain the dark are present you feel them drag you into that feeling.  It truly was a fantastic book that will definitely leave you going WTF? in some parts and begging for October 2019 to hurry up and get here.  This book is part 4 in a series that is ongoing.  You will need to read it in order.

Review: The Consort (Ascension #3) by K.A Linde

Today, I get to bring to you the third book in the fantastic Ascension series.  This book takes us further into the world that Cyrene is becoming a bigger part in and Kael is choosing darker paths.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.

28577883Book Blurb:

After the loss of a friend and a false imprisonment in an Eleysian dungeon, Cyrene has no interest in destiny. Her heart was shattered, friends scattered, and her home is nothing but a pretty illusion. Even her magic won’t cooperate.

Only desperation can turn her to the last person she should trust:

Prince Kael.
His darkness mirrors a growing force lurking within her. A struggle she never imagined threatens to consume her. And as friends and foes begin to show their true colors, she starts questioning whether anyone is who they seem.

Even herself.

Review:

Cyrene finds herself emprisioned and betrayed by the man she has fallen for.  Her heart broken she feels aimless.  When Kael comes to retrieve her she does the only thing she thinks she can and moves toward Kael’s pull.  The closer she gets the more she realizes and sees where the dangers really lie.  Her choices have so much weight now.  Will she be able to make the choices that will propel her toward her destiny or will she doom everyone?

This was a terrific addition to this series.  Carrying Cyrene’s story to the next level really adds so much more emotional depth to her character.  Her pain, love, confusion and torment are all felt through the words of the phenomenal K.A Linde.  The world that she has built with this story truly brings it to striking color.  The emotion and choices all the characters must make really bring a air of realism to a completely fictional world.  In this third installment, we get to see more of our favorite character, Avoca, Ahlvie, Dean, Orden, Vera and Matilde.  This band really help to pave the way for how the story will go.  Without them, this series wouldn’t be as dynamic as it already is.  If you haven’t started this series yet, you need to start.  This is NOT a standalone book.  This is part of an ongoing series that I guarantee you will devour the moment you get your hands on them.

Review: Blood Cure by K.A Linde

Today, I get to bring to you the final book in the fantastic paranormal trilogy by K.A Linde.  If you are looking for your next vampire story you need to pick this trilogy up stat.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

Book Blurb:

She had the world on her shoulders. Now she has nothing.

Reyna Carpenter was twenty-one when she became a live-in blood escort for the ruthless and darkly handsome vampire Beckham Anderson. She thought this was just a small price to pay for feeding her brothers back home.

But nothing went as planned. Not even her tumultuous relationship with Beckham. And now she wonders if anything will ever be the same again.

As she finds herself in the midst of a losing rebellion, she and her trusted friends must flee from a city conquered by the vampire elite. With their plans blown to pieces and everything they knew and loved gone, their future hangs in the balance.

Despite all she has lost, Reyna must rise from the ashes, reclaim the life that was stolen—and complete her mission, once and for all.

Review:

Reyna has faced the worst that can happen to her.  She knows that she must pull herself together.  The rebels are scattered and those still together need a leader.  As Reyna pulls together those who still want equality, her own heart and her family she knows its not over till they rid the world of the evil that has plagued their world.  With every twist and turn, they get closer to their goal, but at what cost?

This was a fantastic finish to this trilogy.  I am sad to see this trilogy finish.  This book takes up exactly where we left off in the previous blood type book.  Reyna’s character takes leaps in the book.  As with all great endings, questions are answered, people are met and people we love die.  K.A Linde takes the reader on the final journey with this book.  We get to get a satisfying end that will still leave us wanting more because we don’t want to let this world and its characters go.  Deep down I know this is the end but I could easily see more coming from these characters and K.A Linde’s phenomenal paranormal romance.  I look forward to see what she comes up with next.

Review: Blood Match by K.A. Linde

Today I get to bring to you the second book in her Blood Type trilogy.  This continuation of the first book has brought the story to a whole other level.  Not to mention the heart crushing twist in the end.  For my full review (spoiler free) keep reading after the book blurb.

35898961Book Blurb:

A desperate human. A powerful vampire. A world divided.

Reyna Carpenter was promised paradise. She was delivered into hell.

Giving up her body for money was supposed to be the hardest part of becoming a blood escort. She never expected to lose her heart to her dark, enigmatic boss, Beckham Anderson. After being taken by a depraved captor who plans to rule the world, Reyna will do anything to return to Beckham.

She just has to find the will to survive this game.

From the pawn, rises a queen.

Review:

It’s been 8 weeks since Reyna was kidnapped.  Betrayed by someone she thought she could trust.  Now, she is a human blood bag.  All she wants is for Beckham to find her and rescue her.  When help finally comes she can’t completely understand how her world and Beckham have changed in that small amount of time.  Reyna wants revenge and to help others like her, but when she gets her chance will her sacrifices pay off or just trap her?

Another fantastic, book throwing, sobbing into my pillow kind of story.  K.A Linde has continued Reyna and Beckham’s story but also added a lot more depth to characters we were desperate to know more about but didn’t realize.  Elle, the rebel group, plays a very prominent role in this book.  We dive more into the world of the rebels and learn more about what is going on and how things with the vampires got so bad.  Reyna and Beckham’s love story truly grows…after a few bumps along the way.  In the first book of this series we just got a taste of their love but in this one, steam will definitely be coming off the pages.  This book has everything a great second book has.  It propels the story, brings the reader deeper into the lives of the characters and leaves you screaming at the author, then crying, then screaming again…you get it.  If you haven’t started this series yet, you needed to like yesterday.  This book only solidifies K.A Linde’s ability to write a paranormal romance with the best of them.

Review: The Wright One by K.A Linde

Welcome to part two of our wonderful release day!  K.A Linde’s fantastic Wright family finishes with part two of the Wright Love duet.  These books are addictive and this last one is equally so.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.

37825322Book Blurb:

Secrets swarm all around.
My world is crumbling under the strain.
I don’t know if we can survive this.
My heart is in the Wright place.
But is his?

The Wright One is the last book in the Wright Love Duet that began in The Wright Love. Find out if Sutton and David survive their world of secrets in the conclusion to the Wright Love duet!

Review:

David knows he has screwed up by not telling Sutton the truth.  He’s never told anyone his real secret second life.  With the damage done to their budding romance can they find their way back together?  Will their love prevail or will grief and distrust drown them both in sorrow?

What an awesome ending to this duet.  Knowing this story has a massive uphill battle I was a little worried.  In the end, I should have had complete faith in K.A Linde.  David and Sutton’s love story is so sweet and epic.  Overcoming the obstacles they have to makes them both deserving of the deep love they have.  This ending/beginning to this duet really rounds out all the Wright sibling stories.  Learning all about Sutton and David has made this story so emotionally touching and deep.  K.A Linde definitely delivers on this story.  I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.
