The Plan (1)**NEW RELEASE** – THE PLAN by Katie Ashley – Now LIVE!
BLURB:

For Jenny O’Malley, the plan was supposed to be easy. Become the surrogate for her friends, Connor and Jeff, deliver their healthy baby, and earn some money towards her student loans. But as the saying goes, the best-laid plans often go awry. Especially when you’re looking at the prospect of not getting laid for a long, long time.

With T-Minus two weeks to insemination, Jenny decides to take her friend, Casey’s, suggestion to have one wild fling before she’s saddled with heartburn and stretchmarks. When a tall, dark and handsome man swaggers into the bar where she works in skin-tight jeans, cowboy boots, and a Stetson, Jenny knows he is the one. After a scorching night of banging boots until dawn, Jenny is a little sad to see her Cowboy in Shining Armor leave.

When he reenters her life a few weeks later, she never could have imagined a positive sign could be such a negative.

Review:

Jenny had a plan.  It was supposed to be easy.  Become a surrogate for two very deserving people and earn money toward college.  What she doesn’t plan on is the sexy cowboy who is supposed to be just a one night stand before she becomes pregnant.  When that one night stand pops back up at the more inopportune time what’s a pregnant girl to do?
Jenny and Brett’s story was sweet.  I enjoyed this shorter story.  It had a great blend of romance and twists with just a dash of humor.  Anyone who has dreamed of a cowboy walking into their life for just a while will enjoy this story.  Brett and Jenny’s love story moves quickly but it manages to keep the realistic and natural feel of a slow moving love story.  Add in a pregnancy and you get some great twists.  If you are looking for a quick read with a great story look no further.

What do you do when your past comes creeping back? Carol Duffy is facing the next chapter in her life. She alternates between excitement and fear as she drives toward her fresh start with a new job in a new state. She’s washed her cheating ex-fiance out of her hair, and the last thing Carol wants is another man in her life. Now if she could just get her dog back. Moving from the only home she’s known is terrifying enough. It’s a good thing she didn’t know how deadly it could be or she would never have gotten into her car. Widower Joe Christian has spent the last ten years raising his children as best he could and managing the Rocking Double L Ranch for Lucas Le Beau. Relationships and romance are off his menu. He had his chance at true love and lost it. The quiet life at the Rocking Double L is about to become much more exciting. It’s just another day on the Le Beau ranch with a heady combination of a romance that refuses to be denied, Texas weather that can turn dangerous, and a lethal stalker.”

Review:

Carol is excited to start this new move.  She walked away from her cheating ex and is hoping this will be an exciting new job in a new state.  When she meets a sexy widower, Joe, she knows that life will definitely become better.  But, when it appears her past is coming back she becomes fearful.  Can Carol and Joe find a way for their love to flourish or will someone come back and snatch their happiness away?

I love V.A Dold books.  Her stories are always suspenseful, romantic and entertaining.  Carol and Joe are very dynamic.  Their pasts both influence the story but in different ways.  Those who have read V.A Dold books before will see familiar faces and will be happy that they are still just as entertaining.  I loved the setting in Texas and it will make you want to go to a ranch, see your own sexy men and go riding horses.  If you haven’t read V.A Dold,  you can start now.  I guarantee once you pick up one of her books you won’t be able to stop.

Successful, workaholic author Carrie Bennett lives through her writing, but can’t succeed at writing a man into her life. Furthermore, her equally successful but cynical daughter, Paige, proves inconsolable after the death of her fiancé.

Hard-drinking rancher Ray Ryder can find humor in just about anything—except the loss of his oldest son. His younger son, Jake, recently returned from Iraq, now keeps a secret that could shatter his deceased brother’s good name.

On one sultry night in Texas, relationships blossom when the four meet, starting a series of events that move from the dancehalls of Hill Country to the beach parties of East Hampton, and from the penthouses of New York to the backstreets of a Mexican border town. But the hurts of the past are hard to leave behind, especially when old adversaries threaten the fragile ties that bind family to family…and lover to lover.

Review:

Carrie and her daughter are travelling to a ranch to research her mother’s upcoming book.  On their drive they come across a recently returned soldier in the rain walking along the highway.  Carrie convinces her daughter to pull over and pick up this lonely rain-soaked soldier.  What they don’t realize it this one action will change their lives and their hearts forever.  Carrie soon meets the soldier, Jake’s, dad and sparks soon fly even if it is reluctant.  But, it isn’t only Carrie and Jake’s dad that have sparks.  Jake and Carrie’s daughter, Paige, find themselves in a reluctant love affair even if love isn’t on the menu.  But, with four very different people with four very different lives can they find a way to open their hearts to love or will they lose their last chance at love.

From page one I feel into this book.  I couldn’t put it down until I was at the end.  Even then I wanted more.  I adored Carrie and Ray’s love affair.  It was wonderful to see a novel that shows love can develop at any age and can and will find a way when a heart is open.  I did have hopes with Paige and Jake.  I think this was the only part I was a bit disappointed with.  There was no clarity as to what would happen to them.  Throughout the book the two couples had paralleled stories, but when it came to the end we don’t really know what or if anything happens with Paige and Jake. I hope this means there will be a follow-up story.  It really seemed like there was more to their story whether they ended up together or not.  Overall, this was another great book by Andrea Downing.  I truly can’t wait for another.
