Review: A Magical Highland Solstice by Mary Morgan

Happy Monday!  I hope all of you have had a wonderful holiday and weekend.  Today I bring to you a great Christmas novella from the world of The Dragon Knights.  I am so happy to share Cormac’s HEA.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a wonderful week ahead.

32487375Book Blurb:

Laird Cormac Murray has witnessed how love destroyed his own father after the death of his mother, and he vows to never take a wife. Yet, when he comes upon a bewildered lass traveling alone, he finds his heart will no longer listen to his mind. In the end, Cormac risks everything to claim the love of a woman not of his time.

Eve Brannigan loves helping others and baking. After winning a contest, she is stunned to learn that the Clan Murray has requested her assistance to cater to their guests during the holiday season. When a lost path in Scotland leads her to a handsome but gruff Highlander, Eve fights the temptation to allow love to enter her heart for the first time.

Can the Fae and the magic of the Yule season bring together two souls who have forsaken love? Or will tragedies from the past separate the lovers forever?

Review:

Cormac has written off finding a love like his friends, the Dragon Knights, have found.  He is more focused that his household is falling apart just in time for the Yuletide Celebrations.  Eve has her own set of problems.  She was hoping to win her baking competition and pay some of her and her neighbor’s bills.  But, after finding out another contestant was sabotaged she gives her winnings her as an early wedding present.  Soon she finds out her winnings weren’t just monetary.  She is required to go to Scotland to bake for a celebration over there.  What Eve and Cormac don’t expect is that they will soon find each other and what neither is looking for they will find.

I love this series and I was definitely excited to see that Cormac was getting his own story.  He has been one of my favorites since the beginning of the series.  Cormac meets his equal in Eve.  She is hardworking and loyal.  Everything Cormac is too.  With the setting during Christmas it truly added a bit more magic to the already magic filled story full of Fae magic and manipulation.  The idea that Eve has traveled the veil of time is a lot less shocking to almost everyone except Eve.  Overall, this is a quick read with a lot of romance, Christmas magic and a sexy highland Laird.  What more could a gal ask for for Christmas?

About Kissing Mr. Mistletoe:

You are cordially invited to spend your HOLIDAYS IN THE VINEYARD

Ever since his last remaining relative died, Country music star Trace Montgomery has avoided California, specifically his home town, Napa Valley. Trace can’t stand the memories.

Seven days before the holiday, he’s forced to return to wine country to sell the St. Helena Christmas tree farm he inherited from his uncle.

With his sidekick guitar Lola nearby, a past love, the one that got away, falls into his arms while trying to turn a vineyard bunny sculpture into a reindeer. Now, Trace can’t stop thinking about her. He’s making up naughty lyrics to Christmas songs…

Single mom, Monique Jacobson doesn’t have time for a bath, never mind a romance. She’s working hard to secure a promotion and pay raise from Santino Winery that will allow her and her daughter to move out of Nana’s little B&B.

St. Helena and Napa Valley hotels are booked for the holiday, and Monique finds Trace hold up with her and her daughter at her gran’s Napa B&B for a Christmas in wine country. Will they rediscover the love they lost and rekindle Christmas magic under the mistletoe?

*Kissing Mr. Mistletoe is a standalone read. Although you may recognize some of the names, this Christmas gem features its own cast of lovable and sexy characters.

Review:

Monique knows that this is her chance to get a promotion by throwing a wonderful Christmas party.  What she doesn’t expect is her former lover to show up delivering the Christmas tree she ordered.  Trace knew the moment he set eyes on Monique again that he still loved her.  But, after what happened to her and between them can they find away back together or will the weight of his career and her obligations as a single parent hold them back?

I loved this novella.  This was the first book I have read by Kate Kisset.  I am ready to pick up another by her.  I definitely want to see more about the Santino brothers.  The setting and premise of the second chance love with the magic of Christmas really brought a sweet setting to this novella.  Monique and Trace’s connection both sexual and emotional is truly projected for the reader to feel.  This is quite a quick Christmas read but it is truly entertaining and will give you a romantic feeling with a side of holiday fun and magic.  Kate Kisset’s writing was entertaining and romantic.  Perfect for this time of the year.

Review: A Helluva Holiday by Jerrie Alexander

Welcome to another week closer to Christmas!  Hahaha…I can already hear the boos.  To offset the pain of Christmas coming to fast and everyone having too little time, I am bringing to you a holiday with the boys from Lost and Found Inc.  A Helluva Holiday gives us chance to catch up with Nate and the boys with a mystery that needs to be solved before Christmas comes.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a wonderful week ahead!

32595605Book Blurb:

Nate Wolfe places the Lost and Found, Inc. team’s Christmas reunion on hold when a Navy buddy needs help.

Clay Hudson and Carol Penny have loved each other since high school. Time and circumstances placed them far apart over the years but now they’re back home, during the worst cold weather Eden Rock, Texas has ever experienced. Clay’s a successful vet and Carol’s just been fired from her TV anchor job. She’s come home to help her sister sell the family horse ranch, but when she discovers the buyer is actually a Mexican drug lord, she changes her mind.

The cartel won’t take no for an answer, so Clay steps in to protect Carol, and calls in his old friend from Lost and Found, Inc. The team will fight freezing weather, a freak snowstorm, and a ruthless killer to discover why this piece of property so important. Can the Lost and Found team unravel this puzzle in time to be home for the holiday? Will Carol and Clay learn old love can be new again?

Review:

Carol is returning home after being fired and to sign the family ranch over to a buyer.  What she doesn’t expect to see is Clay.  Clay is the vet in town and Carol’s former love.  Just as Carol and Clay begin to have a warm reunion, danger comes along with threats and violence against their horses.  Clay calls in Nate and his boys to help keep Carol and her sister safe along with figuring out who is trying to hurt them.  Can Nate and Lost and Found Inc keep everyone safe?  Will Clay and Carol take the leap and find their love they once lost?

I have forgotten how much I’ve missed those sexy Lost and Found men.  Clay fits in with them.  Though he isn’t one of the investigators he is one hot vet.  Carol is also a very feisty woman that fits well with Clay.  The romance and mystery were done so well for this novella.  You will forget that this is actually a Christmas novella.  Clearly danger and the Lost and Found Inc men don’t stop just for a holiday.  In fact, they bring their wife and child with them.  If you are like me and have been missing these very sexy men you will want to pick this up.  I hope we get to see more of these hot guys.  Hint…Hint…Dalton and Tank need their HEA’s.

Review: Unwrapping Treasure by Jody A. Kessler

Another Monday brings in another fantastic book.  Today I am bringing to you a novella by Jody A. Kessler.  It’s a Christmas novella with two EMT’s who finally find their way into each other’s arms.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a great week ahead!

27413396Book Blurb:

Paramedics Treasure and Bodie arrive on scene at a routine emergency call and find an outrageous holiday party, a Christmas tree on fire, and an innocent life to save that nearly cost them their lives.

After escaping the chaos of work, they decide to spend their Christmas vacation together at a secluded lakeside cabin deep in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With the snow falling soft, a warm fire in the hearth, and fresh cookies baking in the oven, an innocent holiday getaway quickly turns into a night of spontaneous passion with no strings attached.

Will Treasure and Bodie’s hasty decision to spend the night tumbling between the sheets – and on the table, and the floor – prove disastrous or will their relationship develop into something neither of them saw coming?

Review:

Treasure and Bodie have been partners for years.  Treasure has never seen him as anything other than a partner.  He has always been in a relationship and she is not one to mess with wives or girlfriends.  But, on Christmas Eve, Treasure finds out they are now both single and begins to see Bodie in a new light.  After a particularly difficult rescue, they find themselves on a mini trip away from everything.  What isn’t planned is the satisfaction they find in each others arms.  Will their friendship survive a night that will change everything?

I have been a fan of Jody A. Kessler since I read her book Death Lies between Us.  I wasn’t sure what to expect with a contemporary romance novella.  What I found was a fantastic story that left me begging for more.  Treasure and Bodie’s one night of romance is one that any woman would want.  We don’t really learn much about these characters except they have been friends and this is a leap for them on a holiday no one wants to be alone on.  This is where I truly wish there was more to this story.  I am hoping that this is just an appetizer for the real story between the two.  I think there is a lot that needs to be explored and with this story we see their friendship, courage and passion.  If you are looking for a novella that will have your kindle steaming up you will enjoy this story from Jody A. Kessler.  Though I am not beyond begging Jody for more Treasure and shirtless Bodie.

Fresh Face Friday: Operation Christmas by Barbara Weitz

Happy Friday, Everyone! Today I have a great novella just in time for Christmas.  Operation Christmas is a warm and touching story full of emotion.  Barbara Weitz really brings the feeling of Christmas into her novella.  For the rest of my review check it out after the book blurb.  I know most of you are groaning at the idea of Christmas but after reading this you will be a little closer to the holiday spirit.  I don’t normally do this but I want to give a shout to my little brother.  Its his birthday today!  Happy Birthday, Brandon!

18692287Book Blurb:

Lieutenant Jess Grant is home from Afghanistan with a physical injury that has stripped away his confidence. Yet he hopes to reconnect with a young war widow he knew in high school. His “Operation Christmas” project is just the excuse he needs to visit her family’s bakery.

Madeleine Belmar struggles with Christmas, works for Scrooge, and is nowhere near ready for a new relationship when she runs into Jess. Her rejection and his persistence create a confusing mix of attraction and fear she seems unable to navigate.

When Jess sees she won’t budge, he leaves their fate up to Madeleine. Between her meddling family and angelic intervention, Jess will get a helping hand. This Christmas will be one they will never forget.

Review:

Operation Christmas is a great read to get you in the holiday spirit.  It brings up what we tend to forget.  Many of us, unless your married to one, forget about the soldiers during the holiday season.  This story brings up how family and soldiers are effected by both the loss of a life and of a limb.  Jess is the wounded soldier who has run into the one woman he has pined for since high school.  Madeline is grieving the loss of her soldier.  Both Jess and Madeline come together to heal each others wounds.  Their love story is sweet and gentle.  It really made it feel like they had that angel that they talk about in the book.  Though this is a short story it is definitely a moving one that will warm your heart and have you wanting to send a tin of cookies to a soldier too.  Overall, a wonderful read and definitely will put your own challenges into perspective.

Building a house is easy. Building someone’s trust is a whole other story. But with a little helping hand, a little Christmas magic can make all the difference in the world.

Excerpt:

“You don’t have to be afraid. This will explain it all. I promise you.” He smiled warmly and Lauren wanted to trust him if only to believe in simple kindness.

With shaking hands, she took the piece of paper, warm from being in the pocket close to Kyle’s body. She held it up straight so that she could see Kyle while reading the words on the paper.

“Dear Santa…” she read out loud, then read the next part silently. “Oh, no,” she groaned.

“I know. That’s just how I felt.”

Lauren shot him a skeptical glance. “How did you get this?”

“Kristen gave it to me.”

“That’s impossible. Mrs. Hopkins just helped her with it this afternoon and-”
“And she gave it to me in the Mall,” Kyle finished for her.

She looked at him quizzically, still trying to comprehend the course of events leading up to his seizure of her daughter’s precious note.

“It’s not that hard to figure out, Lauren,” Kyle said warmly.

His dark eyes gleamed with the light from the lamppost. He wore no hat to protect his head from the falling snow. Now his hair was filled with powdered flakes, matting it down.

His grin was bright and wide as he informed her, “I’m Santa Claus.”

Review:

I love a good holiday story.  Every Christmas season I look for some good holiday themed books that really bring out the meaning of the season.  This book definitely lives up to my strict criteria.  Lisa Mondello has done a wonderful job bringing in the feelings and emotions of the season along with just that of daily living.  As most people will agree emotions during this time of the year tend to be more sensitive.  That’s why when I find a good Christmas romance I latch on.  The romance between Lauren and Kyle drew me in and had me sighing with every page turn.  It’s not just their romance though that makes this such a must read for the season.  It is definitely the element of family and the importance of trying to mend fences during this time of year that really solidifies this as a fantastic holiday novel.  I would definitely suggest anyone who loves Christmas, romance and family to pick this up and read it.  You won’t regret it.

I’d like to thank Lisa Mondello for stopping by today and Bewitching Book Tours for letting me host this spot.  If you’d like more information about Lisa Mondello you can check out her links below.  If you want some additional information about  All I Want for Christmas is You you can stop by Barnes and Noble, Amazon or any other book retailer.
