Review: Defiant Queen by Meghan March

The Mount Trilogy continues with

Defiant Queen…

I’m his entertainment. His toy. Payment on a debt.

I tell myself I hate him, but every time he walks into the room, my body betrays me. How can I want him and fear him in the same moment?

They told me he’d mess with my head. Make it go to war with my body.

But I didn’t realize it would be complete anarchy.

I should’ve known better. When Mount’s involved, there are no rules.

I will not surrender. I will not show weakness. I’ll stand my ground and make it out of this bargain with my heart and soul intact.

But he has other plans . . .

Defiant Queen is the second book of the Mount Trilogy. Mount and Keira’s story concludes in Sinful Empire.

Review:

Kiera is in a daze after discovering the bombshells at the end of Ruthless King she is more determined then ever to defy Mount.  Mount knows he wants Kiera.  More than he thought he did.  What he doesn’t know is how to get her to admit she wants him just as much.  As a softer side of Mount starts to show, Kiera starts to wonder if everything she has thought about him is correct.  Just when you think they have gotten to a good place a devastating twist happens. Will Kiera and Mount find their way or will they burn down their kingdoms?

This was a fantastic follow up to Ruthless King.  I love Meghan March’s stories.  This is probably one of the most erotic and enthralling stories she has written.  Though I am still not a huge fan of Kiera and her lack of real backbone.  I am starting to really like Mount.  His character is truly starting to grow and you are seeing him more dynamically.  Overall, if you haven’t started this series you need to.  Meghan March is a fantastic romance writer with lots of drama, suspense and very intense sex scenes.  If you are looking for a new series pick up Ruthless King and go right into Defiant Queen.  I can’t wait to find out what will happen in Sinful Empire, the conclusion to this sinfully sexy series.

Review: Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis

From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes the next sexy, standalone in the Heartbreaker Bay series, HOLIDAY WISHES, now available for $.99! Don’t miss the amazing excerpt below, and grab your copy today!

About HOLIDAY WISHES:

It’s Christmastime again in Heartbreaker Bay!

When Sean O’Riley shows up at the Hartford Bed & Breakfast for his older brother’s bachelor weekend, he’s planning to get through this weekend as well as he can and fulfill his duties as best man. What he’s not expecting is to come face to face with the woman he lost his virginity to a decade ago—a woman he’s never really forgotten.

The last time Lotti Hartford saw Sean, she told him she loved him while he said nothing. Now, ten years later, she’s just looking for a good time. For once, she wants to be wild and free, and when she sees how good Sean grew up, she thinks he might actually be the perfect candidate.

As the weekend continues, Sean realizes that after a lifetime of being the hook-up king, he’s ready to find happily-ever-after with Lotti. But is she ready to open her heart once again? As Christmas sweeps through the little B&B, love and magic are in the air.

Review:

The last person Sean expects to see is the one girl who got away.  Lotti doesn’t expect that her last group of guests before her vacation would include the one guy that she has never gotten over.  As Lotti tries to ignore the pull toward Sean, Sean does everything he can to rectify what he did as a stupid teenager.  As a winter storm rages outside, the passion between the two becomes unbearable.  But, can a holiday fling really become more or will it just be another memory?

I loved this addition to the Heartbreaker series.  Sean and Lotti have great chemistry.  I’m a sucker for holiday romances and this one really comes through.  Who wouldn’t want to be snowed in with the one that got away.  Especially if he ends up being just as sexy as Sean.  I know I wouldn’t turn him away.  Along with Sean and Lotti, you will see many familiar faces from previous Heartbreak Bay books.  If you haven’t tried a Jill Shalvis book this would be a great one to get your feet wet with.  I know I can’t wait for the next one in this series.

Grab your copy of HOLIDAY WISHES in eBook or paperback, now available in eBook for just $.99!

EXCERPT:

To say Sean felt stressed was a huge understatement. Give him a cliff to scale or a bar brawl to break up. Hell, give him a freight train to try to outrun, anything but having to pull off being the best man for his brother Finn’s wedding—including but not limited to keeping said brother from losing his collective shit.

It’s not like Sean didn’t understand. Getting married was a big deal. Okay, so he didn’t fully understand, not really, but he wanted to. He really did. And how funny was that? Sean O’Riley, younger brother, hook-up king extraordinaire, was suddenly tired of the game and found himself aching for his own forever after.

“We almost there?” Finn asked him from the backseat of the vehicle Sean was driving.

“Yep.”

“And you double checked on our reservations?”

“Yep.”

“No, I’m serious, man,” Finn said. “Remember when you took me to Vegas and when we got there, every hotel was booked and we had to stay at the Magic-O motel?”

“Man, a guy screws up one time . . .”

“We had a stripper pole in our rooms, Sean.”

Sean sighed. “Okay, but to be fair, that was back when I was still in my stupid phase. I promise you that we have reservations—no stripper poles. I even double and triple checked, just like you asked me a hundred and one times. Pru, I hope you realize you’re marrying a nag.”

Pru, Finn’s fiancée, laughed from the shotgun position. “Hey, one of us has to be the nag in this relationship, and it isn’t me.”

Sean held up a palm and Pru leaned over the console to give him a high-five.

“Just so you know,” Sean said to Finn, “I didn’t pick this place, your woman did.”

“True story,” Pru said. “The B&B’s closed to the public this entire weekend. Sean booked the whole place for our bachelor/bachelorette party weekend extravaganza.”

“I superheroed this thing,” Sean said.

Finn snorted and let loose of a small smile because they both knew that for most of Sean’s childhood, that’s what he’d aspired to be, a superhero—sans tights though. Tights had never been Sean’s thing, especially after suffering through them for two seasons in high school football before he’d mercifully cracked his clavicle.

After that, he’d turned to fighting, and not the good kind either. Finn, physically older by seven years, mentally older by about a hundred, had single-handedly saved Sean from just about every situation he’d ever landed himself in. Thanks to Finn, there’d been a lot fewer situations than there should’ve been and it hadn’t been for lack of trying.

Fact was, everyone knew Sean had taken the slowest possible route on his way to growing up, complete with plenty of detours, but he’d hit his stride now. Or at least he hoped so because Finn was counting on him in a big way over the next week and Sean had let him down enough for a lifetime. He wouldn’t let him down now.

Sean pulled into the B&B’s parking lot and turned to face the crowd he’d driven from San Francisco to Napa. And he did mean crowd. They’d had to rent a fourteen-seat passenger van to fit everyone, and he was the weekend’s designated driver.

Oh, how times had changed. “Ready?” he asked.

Finn nodded. Pru was bouncing up and down in her seat with excitement. Willa, her BFF, was doing the same. Keane, Willa’s boyfriend, opened the door for everyone to tumble out.

It was two weeks before Christmas and the rolling hills of Napa Valley were lined with grape vines for as far as the eye could see, not that they could actually see them right now. It was late, pitch dark, and rain had been pouring down steadily all day, which didn’t detract from the beauty of the Victorian B&B in front of them. It did, however, detract from Sean’s eagerness to go out in the rain to get to it though.

Not Pru and Willa. The two raced through the downpour laughing and holding hands with Elle, Colbie, Kylie, and Tina—the rest of Pru’s posse—moving more cautiously in deference to the preservation of their heels. Sean, Finn, and Finn’s posse—Archer, Keane, Spence, and Joe—followed.

They all tumbled in the front door of the B&B and stopped short in awe of the place decorated with what had to be miles of garland and lights, along with a huge Christmas tree done up in all the bells and whistles. This place could’ve passed for Santa’s own house.

Collectively the group “oohed” and “ahhhed” before turning expectedly to Sean.

This was because he was actually in charge of the weekend’s activities that would lead up to the final countdown to the wedding happening next week at a winery about twenty minutes up the road. This was what a best man did apparently, take care of stuff. All the stuff. And that Finn had asked Sean to be his best man in the first place over any of the close friends with them this weekend had the pride overcoming his anxiety of screwing it all up.

But the anxiety was making a real strong bid right at the moment. He shook off some of the raindrops and started to head over to the greeting desk and twelve people began to follow. He stopped and was nearly plowed over by the parade. “Wait here,” he instructed, pausing until his very excited group nodded in unison.

Jesus. He shouldn’t have poured them that champagne to pre-game before they’d left O’Riley’s, the pub he and Finn owned and operated in San Francisco. And that he was the voice of reason right now was truly the irony of the century. “Stay,” he said firmly and then made his way past the towering Christmas tree lit to within an inch of its life, past the raging fire in the fireplace with candles lining the mantel . . . to the small, quaint check-in desk that had a plate with some amazing looking cookies and a sign that said: yes, these are for you—welcome!

“Yum,” Pru said and took one for each hand.

She hadn’t “stayed.” And neither had Finn. They both flanked Sean, munching on the cookies.

A woman sat at the check-in desk with a laptop, her fingers a blur, the tip of her Santa hat quivering as she typed away. She looked up and smiled as she took in the group. That is until her gaze landed on Sean and she froze.

He’d already done the same because holy shit—

“Greetings,” she said, recovering first and so quickly that no one else seemed to notice as she stood and smiled warmly everyone but Sean. “Welcome to the Hartford B&B. My name’s Charlotte Hartford and I’m the innkeeper here. How can I help you?”

Good question. And Sean had the answer on the tip of his tongue, which was currently stuck to the roof of his mouth because he hadn’t been prepared for this sweet and sassy redheaded blast from his past.

Review: Miss Fix-It by Emma Hart

Happy Tuesday!  Happy Halloween!  Today I get to bring to you the newest great novel by Emma Hart.  I guarantee if you’ve never read her books you will become an instant fan.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a great trick or treat.  Hope you have more treats than tricks!

36157849Book Blurb:

One handywoman.
One single dad.
One set of twins.
And the wall isn’t the only thing being drilled…
I learned the hard way that being a handywoman isn’t easy. The questions, the stares—the assumption I’m the proud owner of a cock and balls. Not that it matters. I’ve proven over and over that I’m ready for anything the judgmental asses throw at me.
Except the hot, single dad of twins who just moved to town.
Brantley Cooper gets the shock of his life when I show up on his doorstep to fix up his kids’ new rooms. His son is confused why ‘the pretty lady has a drill,’ and his daughter has a new obsession—me.
On paper, my job is easy. Go in, do their bedrooms, and leave.
In theory, I’m spending eight hours a day with a guarded, sexy as hell guy, and I’m staying for dinner more often than I’m eating it alone, on my couch, with Friends re-runs.
I shouldn’t be staying for dinner. I shouldn’t be helping him out with the twins. I shouldn’t be falling in love with tiny toes and dimpled cheeks.
And I most definitely should not be kissing my client.
Oops…
MISS FIX-IT is a brand-new, standalone romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, who brought you BEING BROOKE and CATCHING CARLY.

Review:

Kali is used to surprising people.  She gets a lot of joy out of it seeing their faces when they open the door expecting a man and seeing their handy-man is actually a handy-woman.  What she doesn’t expect is when the most recent door opens to find the new sexy single dad.  Taking on the job of fixing up his twins rooms seems like it will be like every other job.  As time goes on Kali starts to question her feelings of her future and what it would like to have a family.  Can she over come her fears or will possibly the best things happening to her float away?

I adored this book.  Kali and Brant are off the wall sexy and funny together.  They are probably two of the most real characters I’ve read in a long time.  I think one of the greatest people in this book are Brant’s twins, Eli and Elle.  They are the epitome of four year olds.  They have all the hallmarks with the ability to say anything and ask anything.  This love story with the wonderfully strong heroine.  A great example of being anything you want to be.  The back and forth between Kali and Brant is so fun.  It truly felt like a natural couple.  Their characters are definitely memorable even if its for the way they bluntly say things to each other.  If you are looking for a fun romance with memorable twins (not like the shining), you want to pick this up immediately.  After this book, I can’t wait for the next novel by extremely talented Emma Hart.

Review:

Kiera is property of no man.  She is holding her family’s distillery together with her bare hands.  But, when Lachlan Mount walks into her office and shows her a promissary note her late husband signed she knows she can never repay him.  What Lachlan wants isnt money.  He wants her.  She hates him with every fiber of her being.  But some how he does things to her body that she can’t stop.  He wants to own her but she will never be owned.

Steamy read alert!  Lachlan and Kiera really burn of the pages when they have their sexy times.   I am intrigued to see what more happens between the two of them.  I will warn you that Lachlan’s kind of alpha grates on my nerves at time.  He is a bit too commanding and I feel like the pure sexual desire between the two of them drives most of the book.  It has a bit of the Christian Grey feel to it.  As the book went along, things did evolve and by the time the book ended a few twists happened just in time for the “to be continued”.   Now, I can’t wait to get my grubby hands on the next in this ultra sexy series.  If you are a fan of Meghan March you will love this.  You will see some familiar faces too.  If you still haven’t picked up one of her books, even though I’ve been telling you to, start this series with me.

Happy Wednesday!  Today I get to bring to you one of the best books I have read this year.  Show Me the Way will take you on a ride you will never forget.  You will fall in love, cry and be ecstatically happy through this phenomenal book.  A.L Jackson was already a great writer, but with this book she has propelled herself to epic writer/storyteller.  Be sure to see my full review after the book blurb.

Show Me the Way

The first stand-alone novel in A.L. Jackson’s brand-new Fight for Me series…

“This book is absolutely perfect.” – Corinne Michaels, New York Times Bestselling Author

The first sexy, captivating, stand-alone novel in the brand-new FIGHT FOR ME series from NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author A.L. Jackson . . .
Rex Gunner. As bitter as he is beautiful.
The owner of the largest construction company in Gingham Lakes has been burned one too many times. His wife leaving him to raise their daughter was the last blow this single dad could take. The only woman he’ll let into his heart is his little girl.
Rynna Dayne. As vulnerable as she is tempting.
She ran from Gingham Lakes when she was seventeen. She swore to herself she would never return. Then her grandmother passed away and left her the deed to the diner that she once loved.
When Rex meets his new neighbor, he knows he’s in trouble.
She’s gorgeous and sweet and everything he can’t trust.
Until she becomes the one thing he can’t resist.
One kiss sends them tumbling toward ecstasy.
But in a town this size, pasts are bound to collide. Caught in a web of lies, betrayal, and disloyalty, Rex must make a choice.
Will he hide behind his walls or will he take the chance . . .
 Review:
Rynna has decided to finally return to the town she left 12 yrs ago.  It is her gramma’s death that makes her finally face the town she ran from.  What she doesn’t expect is to find a very sexy neighbor and his cute daughter.  Rex has been alone for three years and he doesn’t see that ending any time soon.  What he doesn’t count on is Rynna and the pull they have toward each other.  Can the two of them break down their walls and finally let happiness in?  Or will the past come back and destroy them all?
OMG! This was one of the greatest books I’ve read this year.   A.L Jackson is a master storyteller.  Her characters are dynamic and the story is one that draws in the reader until the very end.   Rynna and Rex are very tangible to the reader.  They are relatable and enviable.  I know I definitely envy Rynna for getting her hands on that brooding, sexy Rex.  It isn’t just Rynna and Rex that make this story.  Their friends and little Frankie bring this story to a level that most writers try to reach.  I truly can’t wait for the next book in this dynamic series.  With this first installment, I know the next books will skyrocket to some of my favorite of all time (no pressure ;))  If you have yet to pick up an A.L Jackson book, I recommend this one wholeheartedly.  You will want to run out and read everything she has ever wrote.  Just a warning if you do that make sure you have tissues 🙂

Review: Second Chance Girl by Susan Mallery

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool’s Gold romances Susan Mallery, comes the second standalone title in the Happily, Inc. Series—YOU SAY IT FIRST! SECOND CHANCE GIRL Synopsis:

From the #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Susan Mallery, read the second irresistible installment in the Happily Inc series!

Mathias Mitchell’s easy smile hides a world of hurt. After the worst kind of family betrayal, he moves to Happily Inc., California—the wedding destination town supplies a steady stream of bridesmaids, perfect for his “no promises, no pain” lifestyle. Yet he can’t stop watching for his beautiful, elusive neighbor on the animal preserve behind their homes.

Gamekeeper Carol Lund knows she’s not special enough to attract an alpha male like Mathias, so his offer to help her adopt a herd for her lonely giraffe is surprising—and his determined seduction, even more so. But just as she finally welcomes him into her bed, his careless actions crush her heart. Will she give him a second chance to prove she’ll always come first in his heart?

Don’t miss You Say It First, the first book in the Happily Inc series.

Review:

Carol is soully focused on her animals in her preserve.  That is except for the sexy glass artist that lives right down the road.  Though she knows he’d never go for her because he is caught up with the revolving door of bridesmaids.  Mathias finds himself completely infatuated with Carol.  He won’t even think about going further than friends.  That is until he realizes he can’t stop thinking of her.  When Carol and Mathias finally find their way together will they be able to jump the many hurdles or will Mathias fall back to his bridesmaids way?

I loved this book.  Mathias and Carol were fantastic characters.  They really drew you in and wouldn’t let go.  Not to mention the animal sidekicks in Sophie and Millie.  I have to say though, I think one of the best things about this love story was that there was more than one.  Not only Carol and Mathias but also Carol’s sister, Violet, finds love also.  It really was a fantastic addition.  Carol and Mathias are complete opposites in the way they were raised.  The emotion that is brought to you by the illustration of Mathias’ relationship with his twin, Ronan and his father really bring the deep feelings.  You get a taste of it in You Say it First but in Second Chance Girl we really see how much pain Mathias hides and how hurtful his family is.  If you are looking for a great romance with another romance inside you will want to pick this up today.

No. Just no. As a woman and a professional matchmaker, I can’t let Dylan Parker run this ad. He’s the catch of all catches. That’s why his sister has asked me to help her ridiculously good-looking, insanely rich, but socially clueless brother find a woman. As a broker of happily ever afters, I’m known as the Stud Finder since I make a great living pairing wildly successful women with men who won’t fleece them but will adore them. After all, what woman in her right mind wouldn’t fall in love with Dylan?

I mean, besides me. It totally won’t be me.

Review:

Dylan wants to find the woman of his dreams.  He believes in the internet to help him.  When that fails he finally agrees to meet his sister’s friend, the matchmaker.  Evie knows she can find a match for Dylan.  What she doesn’t expect is her feelings for him.  Can she go against her rules as a matchmaker and match her client with herself?

Another great one by Lauren Blakely.  Her characters are always unique and fun.  Her dialogue always has you laughing out loud like a lunatic.  Dylan and Evie were so fun.  I loved their story.  It was a quick but natural love story.  On the surface this is an opposite attracts story.  But, in reality it was an “opposites find what they have in common” story.  If you want a taste of the wonderful writing of Lauren Blakely pick this novella up today.

“Witty dialogue, fun dates, and a deliciously nerdy hero all match perfectly with a heroine who doesn’t really know she needs all that until it’s right there in front of her. Lauren Blakely has another winner with this one!”

Review: The Choices I’ve Made by J.L Berg

Happy Sunday! Today I get to bring to you the wonderful J.L Berg’s newest masterpiece, The Choices I’ve Made. I know you will love this emotional journey just as much as I did. J. L Berg has easily become one of my go to authors. Be sure to check out my review after the book blurb.

Book Blurb:

35110095Death is easy.
Surviving it? That’s the hard part.

Dr. Jake Jameson knows this all too well. Losing his mother at the age of eighteen, he walks away from his small hometown and the painful memories it holds, vowing to never return again.

Twelve years later, he finds himself driving back down the coast of North Carolina. When his father leaves him a small medical practice, he has no choice but to heed the call until he can find someone else to take it off his hands.

But coming back home means facing everything he left behind, including the one woman who might make it impossible to leave again.

Molly McIntyre has spent her entire life in one town. Taking over her parents’ small inn, she’s settled into a quiet, happy life. But all of that comes to an abrupt halt when Jake shows up at her door in need of a place to stay.

Molly loathes everything about this man, but she can’t find it in her heart to refuse his request.

After over a decade, these former lovers quickly discover what once burned brightly between them has only grown in their time apart. Soon they must decide if the choices they’ve made have led them back to each other for a second chance or one final goodbye.

Review:

Jake never thought he’d ever step foot near the island he grew up on.  That all changes when his father passes his medical practice to him.  What he’s not prepared for is seeing the love of his life.  The last person Molly expects to find at her doorstep is her ex.  The ex that ripped her heart out before leaving.  When these two a together again will they catch fire or will all the hurt and memories destroy what could be?

This was a great heart wrenching book.  The emotional ups and downs that Molly and Jake go through are painful, even for the reader.  It really brings the reader into the lives that they chose.  It will make the reader really think about any every choice they have ever made.  Jake and Molly are such complex characters.  It really makes it interesting when they finally see each other as they are.  J.L Berg is a phenomenal writer.  She knows how to bring the reader right to the mind of her characters.  I can’t wait to see what happens to Dean too. If you haven’t picked up a J.L Berg book yet then you will want to grab this one ASAP.

Review: How to Date a Douchebag: The Learning Hours by Sara Ney

He’s not a douchebag;

but that doesn’t stop his friends from

turning him into one.

MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID.

So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:

Are you the lucky lady who’s going to break our roommate’s cherry?

Him: socially awkward man with average-sized penis looking for willing sexual partner. You: must have pulse. Text him at: 555-254-5551

The morons can’t even spell. And the texts I’ve been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I’m not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.

THIS ISN’T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.

One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can’t bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.

However, after seeing her in person, I know she’s not the girl for me. But my friends won’t let up—they just don’t get it. Douchebags or not, there’s one thing they’ll never understand: GIRLS DON’T WANT ME.

Especially her.

Review:

Rhett isn’t a douchebag.  His family raised him right and he knows how to treat a woman.  But, when you’re around other jokes that look like models then its hard to compete.  When his “friends” decide to help him get laid he is flooded with women he’d never want to touch.  One girl sticks out.   Laurel knows she is beautiful.  She could have her pick of men.  When her cousin dares her to text the poor guy on the poster she does it for fun.  What she doesn’t expect to find is a fun sexy guy.  Can these two find a way to each other or will his friends turn him into just like them….a douchebag?

I loved this book.  This was my first in the How to Date a Douchebag series.  I was hooked from moment number one.  Rhett is the type of leading man that is rarely written about.  A true gentleman with smarts, feelings and personality.  He is not the typical looking leading man.  Laurel was the typical heroine.  Beautiful and smart with a touch of sass.  It felt like in this book the rolls of a typical romance leading man and woman were flipped.  That made this one of the best and most unique love stories I’ve read lately.  Rhett’s naivete was also very refreshing.  This especially effects Laurel in a way she is not expecting.  It isn’t just Rhett and Laurel.  You can’t leave out the douchebags that are his friends.  They will make you so angry you will want to spit.  If you haven’t picked this series up yet, pick it up now.  I know I am running back and getting my fill of the rest of this series.

Excerpt:

He’s seated at a table in the far corner when I spot him from the door. He’s not hard to miss—not with his purple t-shirt in a sea of black and yellow, and wavy mussed hair.

He’s slouching, hunched over his table.

Defeated. Tired.

My stomach rolls with nerves, nerves that have me rooted to the spot in the doorway, watching him.
Just watching.

For the entire four minutes I stand here, he sits immobile, studying his laptop, eyes moving along the screen, completely transfixed by whatever he’s reading.

Learning.

“Just go over there,” I whisper to myself, blowing out a puff of pent-up air.

I put one foot in front of the other and begin toward him, spine ramrod straight, steeling myself, prepared for another argument.

Twenty feet.

Fifteen.

Eight.

Two.

“Hi.”

No reply.

“Do you mind if I sit here?” I lay my hand on the back of the wooden chair across from him, intending to pull it out.

He stiffens but doesn’t lift his head. “Yes I mind.”

“Would you mind if I sat at the table next to you?” I’m pushing his buttons, looking for a reaction, but he only spares me a brief glance.

Shrugs. “Free country.”

I bite my lip to hide a smile, glad he didn’t tell me to take a hike…

Review: Chasing Christmas Eve by Jill Shalvis

From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes the next sexy, standalone novel in the Heartbreaker Bay series… Don’t miss the amazing excerpt and giveaway below, and order your copy today!

About CHASING CHRISTMAS EVE:

Meet cute…

Run for the hills—temporarily. That’s Colbie Albright’s plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie’s so over it that she’s under it. She’s also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she’s pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won’t be a stranger for long.

Make merry…

Spence’s commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn’t have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot—chemistry he’s got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself… just because she’s gorgeous and a great listener…just because she “gets” Spencer immediately doesn’t mean he won’t be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

…and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock’s ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime

Review:

Colbie needs to escape.  What she doesn’t expect is to fall into a fountain and meet a gorgeous man on her first day.  Spence is stuck on his project.  Colbie is not what he had in mind for a distraction.  Colbie regains her muse and Spence is even more distracted.  They only have til Christmas Eve.  What happens when in the end you want more than your time will allow?  Will Colbie and Spence find their happily ever after in time?

I adored this book.  This was my first Jill Shalvis book and I guarantee it won’t be my last.  Colbie and Spence were two very complex and intellectual characters.  These two similar characters both ignorant of complex emotions really made a romance book interesting.  Not only are Colbie and Spence great characters but their friends and family really added a fun depth to a book that could have been a quick love story.  Once these two find their way to each other they really steam up the pages.  I couldn’t put this book down.  I can’t wait to read the next Jill Shalvis book.  If you haven’t read any of her books yet I guarantee you will not regret picking this one up.
