Review: Cruel Fortune by K.A Linde

Today, I get to bring to you the second book in Cruel series by K.A Linde.  The last book ended in a very cruel intentions kind of way.  Just when you think the Upper East Side couldn’t get any worse they say hold my champagne.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

42069143Book Blurb:

I finally have everything I ever wanted–fame and fortune and literary success.

Only one problem: I lost my muse.

He was tall, dark, and handsome. Broody, enigmatic, alluring, and right for me in every way.

Until he wasn’t. Until I lost everything.

And I can’t lose it all again. I’ll do anything to keep it.

Even seeing him again…

Natalie is now successful.  Thanks to her experience with Penn and his group of Upper East Side snobs.  Her book is a hit written under a pen name.  She didn’t expect to run into any of them when she had to go to New York to promote the book.  But, when she comes face to face Lewis, Penn’s best friend, things change.  Changing her life to follow her muse sends her down the exact road she wanted to avoid.

This was a fantastic follow up to the first book.  All of the angst and emotion felt during the first book is thrown right back at the reader times 10.  This book has a lot of Natalie in it.  Penn plays his role but Natalie’s journey down this road is what takes you on the roller coaster ride.  Without giving too much away, Natalie’s success changes her life in the exact way she didn’t want Penn to change it.  What she thought she couldn’t handle with Penn becomes her life.  In some ways, she is very hypocritical now that her life echoes the one that destroyed her the previous year.  One person doesn’t give up though.  Penn.  Once Penn knows Natalie is in his domain his one goal is to have her back.  Unfortunately, the Crew is still around and causing all kinds of hell for people. If you haven’t read Cruel Money yet, I suggest reading that first.  July will be a long wait until Cruel Legacy hits the streets.

Review: The Roommate Agreement by Emma Hart

Let your homeless best friend stay with you, he said. Being roommates will be fun, he said. It’s only temporary, he said.

He never said I’d fall for him.

The Roommate Agreement, all-new hilarious and romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart is available now!

You know what isn’t ‘temporary?’ The endless stream of dirty socks in my bathroom and empty food packets under the sofa—and don’t even get me started on the hot guys who take over my living room every Sunday to watch sports.

I can’t take anymore.

So I propose a roommate agreement. One that will bring peace and order back to my life, complete with rules that might just stop my newfound crush on my best friend in its tracks.

After all, there’s only so many times you can see your best friend naked before you start to lose your mind.

Rules. They’re meant to be broken… Aren’t they?

Jay is the worst roommate.  He leaves clothes and trash laying around the apartment expecting Shelby to pick up after him.  Well she is done with being the mama to this overgrown child.  Inspiration strikes when she is watching her favorite show.  They are going to have a roommate agreement.  A good set of rules that will make life easier and hopefully end the crush she has on her best friend.  Nothing good can come from falling for your best friend.  That is unless it becomes the best decision you’ve ever made.

I adored this book.  Emma Hart writes romantic comedy like nobody else.  Jay and Shelby are fabulous.  They are both completely relatable.  Shelby’s an introvert with a bit of a narcotic tendency and Jay is an extrovert who has never had to be a grown man before.  They are a perfect pair of best friends.  But, making the decision to become more than friends is always difficult especially when you are living with them.  With the help of their families and other besties, Brie and Sean, Jay and Shelby find their way.  Though it isn’t without its hilarious foibles.  I fell in love with this book.  Emma Hart truly knows how to rope a reader in and keep them swooning and laughing.  If you are looking for your next laugh out loud, sexy, no-pants required read, look no further.

Review: Heart of the Devil by Meghan March

HOTD_Blog TourFBbanner (1)

From New YorMMHeartoftheDevilBookCover5x8_MEDIUM.jpgk Times bestselling author Meghan March comes the stunning conclusion to the Forge Trilogy. In this final volume, ruthless billionaire Jericho Forge faces his toughest challenge. To emerge victorious, he’ll have to give up the one thing he’s never offered a woman—his heart.

It started as a game. She was nothing but my pawn.

But I was quick to see the error in my ways, and now she is everything I never knew I needed.

The value of a woman like India Baptiste is beyond measure.

But the problem with being a man like me? I’ve already screwed this up, and there’s no guarantee India will take me on for one last bet.

I’ll do whatever I have to do. Drop to my knees and offer her the only thing I have left. The one thing that’s only ever been hers—the heart of the devil.

India’s life is in shambles.  She must lean on the one person she’s never known about until recently.  When the life of her husband is on the line she will do everything she can.  India thinks her happily ever after is just in her grasp but when it all falls apart she must decide if she will go all in or will she fold on the biggest hand in her life.  Jericho and India must fight for each other lest the wolves pull them apart.

This is the third book in Meghan March’s Forge trilogy.  This was an action packed ending to this series.  Just when you think Jericho and Indy have their happily ever after it gets put in jeopardy yet again.  Jericho and Indy have come leaps and bounds during this series.  This book is one of the best I’ve experienced from Meghan March.  Action and drama are at every turn.  Questions are finally answered and Mr. and Mrs. Forge get the ending that they deserve.  There isn’t a lot I can say regarding this book that won’t contain a spoiler of some kind.  If you are looking for a series with a kick ass heroine and an alpha anti-hero then look no further than the Forge series.  You must read them in order or the story won’t make sense.  I give you my guarantee that you will be panting by the last page.  I was sad to see this series finish but I can’t wait to see what the phenomenal Meghan March comes up with next.

Review: Diary of a Bad Boy by Meghan Quinn

Dear Diary,

I might have gotten myself into a wee bit of trouble—and I’m not talking about the “court mandated community service,” or “therapy sessions from bashing a bloke in the head” kind of trouble.

I wish it were that simple.

Nope. I’m talking about the “falling in love with one of my client’s daughters,” kind of trouble . . .
The kind of problem I can’t talk my way out of when the truth gets out.

How I ended up with her phone is a long story—and when she called to get it back, I took things a bit too far. One innocent exchange wound up leading to so much more.

Fun, new, and totally immune to my charm, Sutton is different. And I had no idea she was the daughter of Foster Green.

Blame it on the dark colored stout running through my veins, pushing me toward one bad decision after another. Pushing me toward her even though I know right from wrong; even though she’s my client’s daughter.

Dating her might be the best or worst decision I’ve ever made. Only time, whiskey, and one more roll around the mattress with her will tell.

Roarke McCool is the stereotypical bad boy.  After an unfortunate incident he is being forced to go through anger management and community service.  Before he even begins he gets into a fight at a hotdog shop over ketchup.  Sutton Green just so happens to be at the hotdog shop when that happens.  When their phones get swapped in the fight,  Roarke decides to make Sutton’s life difficult.  However, when Roarke and Sutton realize they have a mutual friend in her famous father things get complicated.  What neither expect is for their text messages, late night sleepovers and banter to become so much more.  With the odds stacked against them will these two find a happily ever after?

This was a fantastic novel.  Meghan Quinn truly knows how to write a romantic comedy.  Roarke and Sutton are such memorable characters.  He is the epitome of the bad boy.  When he finds the oh so sweet Sutton he can’t think he’d ever want someone like her.  However, she is the one character that evolves what seems so dramatically.  They both influence each other for the best but how they get there is so very comical.  Along with Roarke and Sutton are their friends, Bram, Rath and Maddie.  There is one particular scene involving a proposal that will have you snort laughing out loud. If you haven’t read a Meghan Quinn book yet, there is no time like the present to pick this book up.  If you are a fan of Tara Sivec, you will love Meghan Quinn.  I look forward Meghan Quinn’s next book.

USA Today Bestselling Author, wife, adoptive mother, and peanut butter lover. Author of romantic comedies and contemporary romance, Meghan Quinn brings readers the perfect combination of heart, humor, and heat in every book.

Review: Luck of the Devil by Meghan March

LOTD_Blog TourFBbanner_Dates.jpg

New York Times bestselling author Meghan March continues the story of ruthless, calculating billionaire Jericho Forge in Luck of the Devil.

My poker face has always been one of my greatest assets, along with my grit and determination. I was beholden to no one. Asked permission for nothing.

Then Jericho Forge took my life by storm.

I traded my freedom for something infinitely more precious, but I didn’t realize he was holding an unbeatable hand.

Now, all I have to do is survive the high-stakes game that is my life—with my heart intact.

But not falling in love with Forge? That will take the luck of the devil.

Luck of the Devil is the second book of the Forge Trilogy, and should be read following Deal with the Devil. The Forge Trilogy concludes in Heart of the Devil.

India has made her living reading people.  What are their tells?  What are their motives? Their moves?  When it comes to Jericho Forge she has no clue what is coming.  The only thing she knows is that she is safe with him.  Not many people can say that.  When she finally decides to try to work things with him he shuts her down.  That was the last time he’ll do that.

Jericho has no clue what he is doing with India.  He’s never felt the way he does when it comes to her.  He has only ever trusted one person in his life.  When he epically screws up with her he must follow the advice of one of his close friends.  Can he earn back her trust and maybe her heart before its too late?

What an epic second book in this trilogy.  Meghan March is queen of these sexy billionaire alpha male romances.  She can also write a kick ass heroine like no one’s business.  This is the second book in her Forge Trilogy.  Luck of the Devil picks up where Deal with the Devil leaves off.  India gets herself into trouble and Forge saves her.  She is no damsel in distress but these men pull no punches and play dirty.  As Indie and Jericho get closer the emotion and feeling between them.  With that come the epic fights that two people who are sexually attracted and stubborn.  I don’t want to give too much away since this is the second book and you need to read the first one but if you are looking for steamy love scenes with a “kraken”  and epic fights look no further.  I would recommend waiting for the whole trilogy to be out…if you can.  When you get to the end of this book you will need the next.  Meghan March is a fantastic weaver of stories.  They draw you in leaving you panting for more.  Her alpha males will give you some sweet dreams to come.

Review: Catastrophe Queen by Emma Hart

Today I get to bring to you the magnificent Emma Hart.  If your a fan of hot mess heroine’s then you need to pick up this book.  Emma Hart can write hot mess like no body else.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

42362368Book Blurb:

One hot mess. One hot boss. One too many hot encounters…

It’s not you. It’s me.
No, seriously. It is me. Not only does my name literally mean “unfortunate,” but that’s the story of my life.

Everything I touch turns to crap. An apartment fire—that I swear I was not responsible for—means I’m living back at home with my sex-mad parents. Yay, me!

Which is why I need my new job as personal assistant to Cameron Reid to get back on my feet. Three months in this job and I can move back out and, hopefully, remember to turn off my flat iron once in a while.

On paper, my job is easy. Make coffee. Book appointments. Keep everything in order.

Until I walk in on my boss, half-naked, wearing nothing but the kind of tiny white towel that dreams are made of.

Now, nothing is easy—except our mutual attraction. But he’s my boss, and you know what they say about mixing work and pleasure: unless you do p*rn, it’s just not worth it.

Or is it?

Mallory is a walking disaster.  No matter what she does catastrophe follows her.  Her recent mishap with her apartment burning  down and losing her job has landed her living with her parents again.  That alone would have her running but knowing her parents have a very active sex life is making her desperate.  After a job interview she is almost run over by one of the sexiest guys she’s ever seen.  It just figures she also splits her pants.  Mallory thinks her luck is changing when she lands the job.  What she doesn’t expect is the sexy driver to be her new boss.  Can Mallory and Cameron keep their feelings hidden or will they finally crash together like inevitable storm?

I loved this book.  Emma Hard doesn’t disappoint.  Mallory is probably one of the most relatable characters I’ve read.  She really is a walking disaster, but I think every woman has had her days where they aren’t paying attention and almost get run over…or is that just me?  (shrug) Though Mallory is a disaster on two legs it’s her attraction to Cameron and his to her that really make you swoon.  The attraction is palpable with each turn of the page.  Add in Mallory’s bestie, Jade, her aunt and grandpa and I think Mallory gets her disaster tendencies pretty honestly.  No one has a perfect family when you’re a walking catastrophe.  If you are looking for a great light hearted read, look no further than this gem by Emma Hart.

Review: Cruel Money by K.A Linde

Today, I get to bring to you the first book in the newest trilogy by K.A Linde.  She has truly outdone herself with this first book.  If you love sexy billionaire philosophy professors you will love this book.  For my full review, keep reading after the book blurb.

40200480Book Blurb:

She was supposed to be a one night stand.

A way to sate my sexual appetite.

I let her glimpse the man I am. The face that I hide behind my carefully cultivated life. But she ripped open that divide—and there’s no going back.

Now, she’s here. In my city.

I don’t care that I’m Manhattan royalty and she’s the help.

Only that she’s living in my summer home. With me.

And I want more.

Natalie’s job takes her to different places.  She is a vacation house sitter for the wealthy.  Taking the job in the Hampton’s doesn’t seem to be any different.  That is until she sees the one man she never wanted to see again.  Penn doesn’t recognize Natalie at first.  He does however, appreciate the beautiful naked woman in front of him.  This awkward reunion only gets worse when his wealthy friends are in the house waiting for him.  Natalie finds herself feeling surprisingly comfortable with these people who grew up rich and are still rich.  But, when a bet is made and truth becomes a gray area Penn and Natalie’s relationship will crumble.  Will Natalie and Penn find a way to fight through or will things break irrevocably?

This book takes place 6 years after the prequel One Cruel Night.   You don’t have to read this before reading Cruel Money, but I would recommend it.  It is currently free to read. One Cruel Night introduces us to Natalie and Penn.  You get a little insight into why Natalie feels the way she does.  That being said, Cruel Money, launches the complex relationship of Penn, Natalie and his “crew”.  Early on you know what the major sticking point with Penn and Natalie will be.  It truly isn’t a surprise.  That being said the drama and emotional turmoil the reader goes through with them is incredible.  If you have seen the movie Cruel Intentions this will feel familiar.  It has a lot of echos of that movie.  Natalie and Penn are fantastic complex characters.  Penn’s crew adds the drama and the dynamics between the ultra rich and the normal person.  This book will leave you begging for the next in this trilogy.  If you like drama, emotion and dynamic characters then you will love this new trilogy by K.A Linde.
