Review: In Deep with the FBI Agent by Lynne Silver

Happy Friday!  Today I am bringing to you an exciting, sexy and completely enthralling book by Lynne Silver.  I have totally fallen for the sexy agent, Sam Cooper.  Any woman who will read this will be in the same boat as me.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a great weekend!!

25530035Book Blurb:

To Casey, Montgomery Prep isn’t just DC’s most prestigious private school-it’s her alma mater, the place where her fondest memories were made. It’s also her current employer and the target of a dangerous cyber criminal. But even more shocking than the crime is the sexy FBI agent who comes to investigate . . .

With his six-plus frame and gym-sculpted body, no one would suspect FBI special agent Sam Cooper was once an awkward teenage computer geek-no one, that is, except Casey, the gorgeous girl who captured his heart on the first day of high school and held it for the last fourteen years. When a hunt for a hacker brings Casey back into Sam’s life, his long-denied desire becomes impossible to ignore. He knows just how to make her forget the boy he was . . . and show her the man he’s become.

Review:

Sam has loved Casey since the first day of high school.  Unfortunately, on that day Casey decided to be popular and ignore the nerdy Sam.  10 yrs later Sam still hasn’t forgotten Casey and the new case he is on gives him the opportunity he never had.  When a hacker is targeting prep schools and Casey’s school is on the list Sam comes back into her life as the FBI agent in charge.  Sam not only sweeps into her life but also sweeps her off her feet.  Will Casey open up and finally let Sam in or will Sam’s last chance fall apart?

I totally fell in love with Sam.  He is one of my book boyfriends now.  I wasn’t a fan of Casey, the heroine, but I eventually let her have Sam.  This steamy love story has excitement, sentimentality, steamy sex and love woven so well that you forget your reading a book that will come to a conclusion.  The history of the two characters is a mixture of sweet and angsty.  Lynne Silver does a marvelous job getting these two characters together with all the trouble and hoops that a good romance incorporates.  If your looking for your next book boyfriend you will want to pick up this book.  But, I am calling dibs on Sam Cooper.  🙂

Review: A Little Sugar, A Lot of Love by Linn B. Halton

Today I bring to you a special review for one of my favorite British authors, Linn B. Halton.  A Little Sugar, A Lot of Love is a sweet story of cakes, love and karma.  This highly entertaining read will have you turning the pages faster and faster to see what happens next.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

But nobody finds happiness in the blink of an eye. Sometimes it takes two Christmases, three birthdays and a whole lot of cake to get there …

Previously released as Sweet Occasions by the author. Revised and edited by Choc Lit December 2015

Review:

When a soaked, chilled man comes walking into Katie’s bakery she never imagines how this will change her life.  Katie already has a life she thinks she wants.  Though as Adam continues to appear in her life she finds her perspective of her life and her bakery changes.  It isn’t just Katie who is changed by this clandestine meeting.  Adam cannot get her out of his mind.  Can they find a way to make things work or will their love float away with the changing of the seasons?

This was an absolutely adorable book.  You could feel the love pouring off the pages whenever Katie and Adam were together.  The reader finds themselves wanting to get Adam and Katie together.  As their trials continue to happen you keep rooting for them.  It isn’t just Katie and Adam who make this story though.  His Grandma Grace, his daughter, Lily and Katie’s friend, Hazel add a wonderful dynamic that helps get the characters to where they need to go.  This love story is definitely one for the books.  You will find yourself lost in their worlds and wonder where they have been all your life.  If you haven’t read a Linn B. Halton book this is an excellent one to start with.  You will understand why she is one of my favorite Brit authors.

Review: Unwrapping Treasure by Jody A. Kessler

Another Monday brings in another fantastic book.  Today I am bringing to you a novella by Jody A. Kessler.  It’s a Christmas novella with two EMT’s who finally find their way into each other’s arms.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a great week ahead!

27413396Book Blurb:

Paramedics Treasure and Bodie arrive on scene at a routine emergency call and find an outrageous holiday party, a Christmas tree on fire, and an innocent life to save that nearly cost them their lives.

After escaping the chaos of work, they decide to spend their Christmas vacation together at a secluded lakeside cabin deep in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With the snow falling soft, a warm fire in the hearth, and fresh cookies baking in the oven, an innocent holiday getaway quickly turns into a night of spontaneous passion with no strings attached.

Will Treasure and Bodie’s hasty decision to spend the night tumbling between the sheets – and on the table, and the floor – prove disastrous or will their relationship develop into something neither of them saw coming?

Review:

Treasure and Bodie have been partners for years.  Treasure has never seen him as anything other than a partner.  He has always been in a relationship and she is not one to mess with wives or girlfriends.  But, on Christmas Eve, Treasure finds out they are now both single and begins to see Bodie in a new light.  After a particularly difficult rescue, they find themselves on a mini trip away from everything.  What isn’t planned is the satisfaction they find in each others arms.  Will their friendship survive a night that will change everything?

I have been a fan of Jody A. Kessler since I read her book Death Lies between Us.  I wasn’t sure what to expect with a contemporary romance novella.  What I found was a fantastic story that left me begging for more.  Treasure and Bodie’s one night of romance is one that any woman would want.  We don’t really learn much about these characters except they have been friends and this is a leap for them on a holiday no one wants to be alone on.  This is where I truly wish there was more to this story.  I am hoping that this is just an appetizer for the real story between the two.  I think there is a lot that needs to be explored and with this story we see their friendship, courage and passion.  If you are looking for a novella that will have your kindle steaming up you will enjoy this story from Jody A. Kessler.  Though I am not beyond begging Jody for more Treasure and shirtless Bodie.

Review: Camulus: Gods of the Highlands, Book One by Bambi Lynn

Welcome to Friday!  Today I am bringing to you a short book by Bambi Lynn.  This is a Highland romance that incorporates Gods and mortals alike.  Though a short read this is one that I thoroughly enjoyed and can’t wait for the next in the series. Keep reading after the book blurb.  Be sure to pick up a good book this weekend.

Camulus Vass wants a simple life, absent the power and responsibility that can consume a man. But being laird of a clan as large as the Munro does not offer such luxury. Always under the domineering heel of his uncle, Cam has allowed himself to become a pawn. But the arrival of a mysterious newcomer awakens a beast within him that will not be tamed.

Màili has been given the task of rooting out the spawn of an ancient god. It’s the only way to take her revenge against the man who betrayed her. But getting what she wants means taking the life of the man she loves. Will her hunger for a mortal man wreak further havoc on her already bleak future?

Review:

Cam Vass is a laird that only wants a simple life.  When Maili comes into this life as the maid to his cousin/fiancee it makes his life much more challenging.  All he wants is to be with her.  He can’t stop himself from wanting her more than anything, but he knows that his uncle is devious and if he knew of his feelings for her would hurt her.  What Cam doesn’t know is that Maili is a fallen Goddess that is on a quest for revenge.  But, if she succeeds in her quest she will kill the man she loves.  Will Maili choose love or revenge?

This was a very enjoyable read.  I always love a good highland romance. But, when that romance has the added twist of the paranormal it adds some excitement.  Cam and Maili were very interesting interesting characters.  That being said, I wished this story had a bit more too it.  I thought the story was well written and entertaining but definitely left me with some questions that I wish had more in depth answers than what was given .  Overall, a good book and I look forward to reading another from Bambi Lynn.

Review: Outside the Lines by Ally Bishop

Happy Monday!  Today I have another book from the fabulous Ally Bishop.  Outside the Lines is the next book in her Without a Trace series.  In this book we follow the very wayward Blue Trace.  She was by far the most complex of the sisters so far.  With her complex character comes the most dynamic story yet from Ally Bishop.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a fantastic week!

Don’t take up space.

Don’t talk too loud.

Don’t tell anyone.

I’ve always been the problem child. Blue—my name alone should have warned anyone with a half a mind that I’d be trouble. Who’s named for the broken crayon nobody wants?

Professor Rhys Kennison should have seen me coming a mile away, and I should have known better than to fall for someone so far out of my league. But his touch is like fire and his taste…like the finest chocolate. What woman could resist that combination?

We’re headed for disaster, though—after all, it’s what I know best. No matter how hard I try, I can’t stop destroying anyone who gets too close. And Rhys doesn’t understand. How could he? When I don’t even understand myself?

Trigger warning: this story contains descriptions of sexual abuse that are required for the story.

Heat rating: Entry-level BDSM (with consent) and super-steamy sexy times

Review:

Blue has always been the outcast in her family.  After her last stint in a rehab she is desperately trying to get her life together.  Unfortunately, she is struggling with school.  When she goes for help she meets a handsome professor, Rhys Kennison.  There is an immediate attraction that leads to things a professor and student shouldn’t do.  They are unable to keep away from each other.  Both are hiding things that the other needs to know.  Can Blue find her happy ending or will it go like most of her life and explode into pieces?

Blue is by far my favorite of the sisters.  Her struggle and ability to overcome adversity is so touching.  She is probably the most real of all the sisters.  She is by far the most flawed and the most challenging but when she finds someone willing to risk it all for her she does what most women do and give in to love.  The story, though still filled with the steamy sex, is very complex and enthralling.  I loved Ally Bishop’s writing in this book.  Having read all the books in this series I must say that as they grow so does Ally Bishop as a writer.  This book could be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading all of them.  You won’t regret one page of this series.

Review: Divergent Bloodline by T.J Shaw

Happy Friday!  Today I have an exciting new novel by T.J Shaw.  Divergent Bloodline is an exciting new paranormal romance.  It takes a traditional vampire romance and adds a few twists.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Have an awesome weekend!

27391087Book Blurb:

While tracking down a killer, clues lead homicide detective, Viviane Taylor to suspect, Julian DeMatteo. From the get-go, DeMatteo unsettles and irritates her. He is a force she has never encountered, someone who excites her even though he is forbidden. Her instincts warn that he’s hiding something and she is determined to uncover those secrets.

As king of the vampires, Julian DeMatteo protects the immortal clans. So, when the beautiful, bullheaded cop embroils herself within his world, he must choose between the woman who reminds him of the humanity he has lost or his loyalty to his people.

As confusing emotions awaken inside her, Viviane can either accept her fate as the one chosen to save the immortal race or lose her soul to darkness. With Julian’s help, she fights an evil that would rip her apart in order to forge a new future with the homicide suspect who has stolen her heart.

Review:

Viviane is a hard nosed detective.  When she goes after her man she gets him no matter what.  This changes when she meets the very handsome and wealthy suspect, Julian.  She is unnerved by him from the moment she meets him.  Julian finds himself enthralled by this woman that doesn’t fear him.  He is used to people being scared since he is the king of the vampires.  This is a secret that he keeps hidden from Viviane until she is thrust into their world.  She feels her world is turning upside.  Its not only her world but also her.  She feels a darkness that has been caged away coming lose.  What will Viviane find if she allows herself to fall for her king?

This was a very refreshing paranormal romance.  The characters are entertaining, enthralling and contain more layers as you get further into the novel.  The world that T.J Shaw has built is one that will keep you turning the pages until you have read every secret about Viviane and Julian.  You will fall in love with Julian and his second, Wilson.  The strong Alpha vampires will leave you wishing you could step into a conference room and meet them.  This novel is a fantastic first novel that could lead to many more if T.J Shaw were to grant the wishes of her fans.  For paranormal romance readers, you will find a world that won’t disappoint and will leave you begging for more.

Review: Mercer Street by John A. Heldt

Happy Monday!  I’m bringing you another installment of John A. Heldt’s time traveling romance adventure series American Journey.  This follows Elizabeth, Susan and Amanda to Princeton, New Jersey in 1938.  This is masterfully written.  Like all of the books in this series they have you wondering what you would do if given the opportunity to travel back in time.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Have a fantastic week ahead.

27258807Blurb:

Weeks after her husband dies in the midst of an affair in 2016, Chicago writer Susan Peterson, 48, seeks solace on a California vacation with her mother Elizabeth and daughter Amanda. The novelist, however, finds more than she bargained for when she meets a professor who possesses the secret of time travel. Within days, the women travel to 1938 and Princeton, New Jersey. Elizabeth begins a friendship with her refugee parents and infant self, while Susan and Amanda fall for a widowed admiral and a German researcher with troubling ties. Filled with poignancy, heartbreak, and intrigue, MERCER STREET gives new meaning to courage, sacrifice, and commitment as it follows three strong-willed souls on the adventure of a lifetime

Review:

Only a few weeks after Susan’s husband dies she finds herself, her mother, Elizabeth,  and her daughter, Amanda,  propositioned into doing something that is seemingly unfathomable.  But, when they decide to take the leap they find that time travel is possible and they find themselves in 1938.  When they make their way to New Jersey immerse themselves completely.  Elizabeth develops a relationship with her young parents and herself as a baby.  Amanda finds love with a young German and Susan finds something she thought she’d never have again.  When their time comes to an end will they be able to leave the past behind, will they stay or will they change the future.

This was an incredibly enjoyable read.  This story really draws you into the 1938 world and how life was at a time on the brink of war.  It seemed that once they stepped into the past even the idea of love and what comes with it changes to the ideals of the time.  Elizabeth, Susan and Amanda were relatable, fun and memorable.  While they are learning about the world their adventures teach the reader to truly live in the moment.  This is one of my favorite time travel novels I’ve read.  I can’t wait until John A. Heldt comes out with his next novel.
