Review: Her Fallen Protector by Nichole Severn

I have a great treat for you guys today.  I am reviewing a fantastic paranormal romance that will grab hold and excite you through the whole story.  Nichole Severn’s Her Fallen Protector is steamy, sexy and engaging.  This is definitely one book that any PR lover is going to want to pick up.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

Her-Fallen-Protector-500 (1)Book Blurb:

When a trio of demons kidnap Vdarra Jansen, her normal life is ripped away. Her abductors claim she is the “lost heiress” of the Underworld, and the commander of the mighty Army of Duemos. They don’t seem to care that she knows nothing about the Underworld, or that she only remembers the last ten years of her life…

Former archangel Jacob will do anything to bring back his lost love’s memories. But if he succeeds, it could mean the end of the world. Torn between love and duty, Jacob will do whatever it takes to save her.

Jacob and Vdarra must learn to trust each other, and push aside old hurts to find their way. They are in a race to find the one thing that will decide Vdarra’s, and the world’s, fate – the lost Seal of Solomon.  It will mean choosing between innocent lives …and their hearts.

Jacob has finally found Vdarra after years of searching.  Unfortunately, for him for her safety he must stay away.  He must protect her from those who want her to become what she once was.  Fate has another idea and they come together for one steamy night in Rio.  But, one night ends up opening up Vdarra to being kidnapped by the demons that want her to become Duemos again,  the daughter of The Deceiver.  Vdarra knows nothing about these demons or her past before 10 yrs ago.  She does know that her connection with Jacob is strong and soon that connection and passion help her to remember who she is and what made her lose her memories.  Can Jacob protect Vdarra and help her remember their love or will Vdarra become what she was meant to be and destroy the world?

I really got hooked with this book.  The story was quite a unique take with the daughter of the devil and an Archangel becoming mates.  It was a Romeo and Juliet kind of story except Juliet can destroy the world and heaven.  You can really feel the connections between these characters.  As the story progresses you are drawn further into their emotional turmoil and can relate to them on some level.  But it isn’t just the emotional portion of the story that will have you wanting more.   The steamy scenes between Jacob and Vdarra could set your Nook or Kindle or Ipad on fire.  The chemistry is explosive and with that the sensual sex steams up in an erotic but not pornographic kind of way.  The erotic really livened up an already good story so that it was basically icing on the cake.  I would definitely recommend this book for all my paranormal romance fans out there.  You will not be disappointed and will be, like me, craving more.

Super Sunday Review 2: The Loyal Heart by Merry Farmer

Here is your second dose of Super Sunday.  This is a wonderful story that takes the Robin Hood story and spins it on its head.  It was highly enjoyable and entertaining.  This is yet another great book by Merry Farmer.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

Lady Aubrey has a problem. Several problems. Her childhood love, Ethan, has returned home from the Crusades, but he’s more interested in winning his land back than wooing her. She has to rescue a pair of nuns who are being held prisoner in Derby Castle’s tower by the sadistic Sheriff Buxton. And to top it all off, she’s developing scandalous feelings for Buxton’s lackey, the dark and devilish Crispin. Faced with all that what’s a girl to do but don her disguise as the Derbywood Bandit and take matters into her own hands?

Sir Crispin is at his wit’s end. Not only does he have his hands full keeping Buxton from killing half the shire, now his arch nemesis, the Derbywood Bandit, has joined forces with his old rival Ethan. And that’s nothing compared to the burning torch he carries for his ex-fiancé, Lady Aubrey. He would do anything to win Aubrey’s love …

… until he suspects that there could be a closer connection between Aubrey and the Derbywood Bandit than anyone knows.

You first meet Lady Aubrey while she is dressed as her alter ego, The Derbywood Bandit.  She is stealing from a lord she knows intimately, her ex-fiancée Sir Crispin.   Just as she is about to be found out by Sir Crispin she is rescued by Ethan an old rival.  After Aubrey’s close call she escapes home to her brother with Ethan.  Ethan finds out some devastating news and soon plans revenge and a way to get back what is his.  Unfortunately, due to the sadistic Sheriff Buxton everyone there is no easy way.  So with the help of Aubrey, Ethan tries to do all he can to get his land back.  Though Aubrey is helping Ethan she is also trying to get information out of Sir Crispin who still burns a torch for her.  As Aubrey gets closer to Crispin and Ethan’s priorities aren’t what she thought her feelings are getting confused.  Aubrey must choose her loyalties and with that her heart will choose who it really belongs to.

This robin hood like story was a very fun read.  I loved the twists and turns with the added drama of a historical romance.  The love triangle of Crispin, Ethan and Aubrey.  Aubrey’s character was so dynamic she really helped to propel the story.  I also really liked how as Aubrey’s opinion of both Crispin and Ethan changed so did their characters.  They really began to show their true colors.  There were a few times though that Aubrey was a bit frustrating, but she does redeem herself.  Overall, this robin hood like story was a great read that makes you rethink who is really the bad guy.

Super Sunday Review 1: The Trouble with Dying by Maggie Le Page

Happy Sunday!  I apologize that this week has been a bit hectic and my reviews weren’t ready.  But, today you are lucky.  I have two great posts that will be up for you.  First is a unique book about what happens when your life is in limbo and if you choose right you can have a chance to fix past wrongs.  That is the unique story Maggie Le Page presents in her book, The Trouble with Dying.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  Oh and don’t forget to look for Super Sunday part 2.

23844432Book Blurb:

When Faith Carson wakes up on a hospital ceiling looking down on her body in a coma, it’s a bad start to the week. A very bad start. She has no idea who she is or how she got there or why, and the biggest mystery of all is why she married the schmuck who wants her ventilator switched off.

As if that’s not enough Faith has a dead gran haunting her, a young daughter missing her, and one devilishly delicious man making her wish she could have a second chance at life. And maybe she can, if she finds a way back into her body and wakes up by Friday. But if she doesn’t, this will be her last bad week—ever.

Nate Sutherland decided long ago he’d settle for friendship if he couldn’t have Faith’s heart. But now, as she nears death, he’s going to have to listen to his feelings in a whole new way—and act. Because if he doesn’t, this week will be the worst damn week of his life. He’ll lose everything he’s ever loved.

Faith Carson wakes up looking down at her self.  Only she doesn’t know she is Faith and she doesn’t remember any of her past except that he dead grandmother is there with her too and she is dressed in a very unusual outfit.  Soon she realizes that it is up to her to decide whether she wants another chance at this life.  She must also prove she wants it.  As the important people in Faith’s life visit her she soon realizes mistakes she’s made and that she needs to live to make things right.  But, can Faith prove to those above that she truly wants another chance at this life or will her week fly by without her proving just how much she wants to continue living.

This was such an engrossing and unique story.  I think the idea of proving you want to continue living while in limbo is such a great idea.  Everyone questions what happens when you die, but few question what happens when your on the cusp of dying.  Not only was such a heavy topic treated with a great mix of respect and brevity but it also mixed in a suspense filled mystery of who caused Faith to be in the state that she is in.  You really get the great mix of emotions in this book.  Everything from sadness to guilty to hot to happy.  It really runs the gamut while making you want to turn every last page until you find out what happens.  I would highly recommend this book for those looking for a refreshing read.

T Gephart is an indie author from Melbourne, Australia.

T’s approach to life has been somewhat unconventional. Rather than going to University, she jumped on a plane to Los Angeles, USA in search of adventure. While this first trip left her somewhat underwhelmed and largely depleted of funds it fueled her appetite for travel and life experience.

With a rather eclectic resume, which reads more like the fiction she writes than an actual employment history, T struggled to find her niche in the world.

While on a subsequent trip the United States in 1999, T met and married her husband. Their whirlwind courtship and interesting impromptu convenience store wedding set the tone for their life together, which is anything but ordinary. They have lived in Louisiana, Guam and Australia and have traveled extensively throughout the US. T has two beautiful young children and one four legged child, Woodley, the wonder dog.

An avid reader, T became increasingly frustrated by the lack of strong female characters in the books she was reading. She wanted to read about a woman she could identify with, someone strong, independent and confident and who didn’t lack femininity. Out of this need, she decided to pen her first book, A Twist of Fate. T set herself the challenge to write something that was interesting, compelling and yet easy enough to read that was still enjoyable. Pulling from her own past “colorful” experiences and the amazing personalities she has surrounded herself with, she had no shortage of inspiration. With a strong slant on erotic fiction, her core characters are empowered women who don’t have to sacrifice their femininity. She enjoyed the process so much that when it was over she couldn’t let it go.

T loves to travel, laugh and surround herself with colorful characters. This inevitably spills into her writing and makes for an interesting journey – she is well and truly enjoying the ride!

Based on her life experiences, T has plenty of material for her books and has a wealth of ideas to keep you all enthralled.

Megan is a superfan of Power Station. So, when her friend introduces her to Dan, Troy and Jase she goes a little crazy. Immediately her infatuation with drummer Troy intensifies and her attraction is increased tenfold. For Troy, meeting Megan for the first time he finds her sexy and funny. But most of all he wants her in his bed. The problem is that Troy and Megs best friends are dating and that is a big no-no in Troy’s world. Months go by and Troy and Megs become friends and barely hold back their increasing mutual attraction. That is until Megs gives Troy a proposition that he can’t refuse. So, a one time fling turns into something they try to fight and hide from their friends. Eventually their attraction blows up in their face and its up to them if they finally embrace their feelings for each other or let the best thing in their lives pass them by.

I adored this book. It was a un-put-downable book. Troy was the perfect hero in this book. He looks tough but in reality he is a big teddy bear. He is what all women want in their fantasy men. A man who is a sex god, funny, hot and a good guy. If you can’t guess I have a new book boyfriend in Troy Harris. Unfortunately for me he is completely taken by Megs. Megs’ character was a great fit with Troy. She is equally funny and many times she had balance issues on stilettos that break your neck but of course makes her hotter for wearing them even if she ends up on her ass after a few drinks. Though Troy and Megs were fantastic I think the side characters of their best friends really added to this story. Dan and Ashlyn brought more jokes and gave a real feel to what Troy and Megs felt while hiding things from their friends. This definitely was one of the best rock star romances that I have read. With this one the characters carry you through the story and you really see them change both their minds and attitudes through the book. Overall, I would recommend this book if you are looking to pick up a new hot rock star romance. OH and I am calling dibs on Troy Harris. 🙂

Review: Love & Magic (Iron World Series # 3) by Candace Osmond

Happy Friday!!  I hope everyone had a great weekend and like me is looking forward to the weekend.  I know many of you are going out to see the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.  But, if you aren’t I have the fantastic conclusion to Candace Osmond’s Iron World Series to recommend.  Candace Osmond is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.  Love & Magic is everything we have been waiting for in this fantastic conclusion.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

The Epic Conclusion Of The Iron World Series!

With the weight of two worlds resting heavily on her shoulders, Avery’s life turns upside down once again after discovering that Jack is still alive. Now Avery must decide between doing what’s right or following her heart. But the heart isn’t always wise.

With this anticipated conclusion you find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat remembering where we left off.  Avery had just found Jack who she and everyone else thought was dead.  From here we are thrust back into the love triangle of Jack, Oden and Avery,  visiting the Summer Court with Avery’s Aunt Tessana, finding Avery’s father and fending off her evil mother and those are just the tip of the iceberg. Surprises and twists abound in this page turning final entry in the Iron World Series.

This is what everyone wants in a finale.  Your questions are answered.  Your heart is broken and mended a few times.  Your favorite characters change both for the better and worse.  This truly is one of the best final books in a series that I have read.  Avery comes full circle from the first book.  By the end of this book her choices will be made and she will continue to impact all of those she come in contact with whether they are human or fae.  It isn’t just Avery who changes though, Jack has a huge transition in this book and he has his own choices to make.  The story and characters came to such a magnificent conclusion I truly felt complete.  I will miss the worlds and hope that maybe there will be a novella or two following Julie and Will or Sullivan and Max, but that is just my wishful thinking.  Anyone who has already read the other two Iron World books you will definitely want to pick this up and you will find like me that Candace Osmond has truly honed her craft with this final book.  If you haven’t started these book or are new to Candace Osmond this is one author that you don’t want to miss.  So, if you’re looking for a good book for your Valentine’s weekend you will want to start with Iron & Wine the first book in the Iron World Series.

Review: A Way from Heart to Heart by Helena Fairfax

I know this is a day late but I figure better late than never.  I hope the beginning of your week has started well and I am going to keep it going well with a fantastic book, A Way from Heart to Heart.  This is a contemporary romance that anyone who has lost their love and looks at the scary prospect of a new love.  With an engrossing story and relatable characters this story is a must read.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

23588782Book Blurb:

After the death of her husband in Afghanistan, Kate Hemingway’s world collapses around her. Kate’s free time is spent with a charity for teenage girls, helping them mend their broken lives – which is ironic, since her own life is fractured beyond repair.

Reserved, ex-public school journalist Paul Farrell is everything Kate and her teenage charges aren’t. But when Paul agrees to help Kate with her charity, he makes a stunning revelation that changes everything.

But can Kate take a risk with her son’s happiness as well as her own?

Kate is amazed at how in one moment your world can crumble around you.  When her husband dies in Afghanistan this is the moment for Kate.  It is only through the need to care for her son that drives her to get up in the morning.  Soon that one moment is three years later and she takes a moment to look at her life and the people in it.  The two constants in her life are her friend Orla and her husband’s friend Paul who spends time with her son once a month.  Kate and Paul have always had a strained relationship until she decides she needs a favor.  This favor turns into a lot more between them.  Secrets Paul has kept soon come out and Kate must look to see if there is a way to love another person after losing her heart to lose and grief.

This novel had some very gripping moments.  These moments lured you in with their emotional poignancy.  This story was masterfully written between the emotional moments and the strong characters.  Kate and Paul’s relationship is wonderfully balanced on the turbulent emotions that both have.  The need to feel guilt yet falling in love with someone is something that most people can relate to in one time or another in their life.  This illustrated that not only can you overcome and continue living with your loss but also find love again.  Kate was a wonderful character that managed to develop beautifully even if at times I wanted to smack her and tell her to go get him.  Overall, you will enjoy the strength and depth of this story along with the characters who capture your heart along the way.

Review: Eclipse Lake by Mae Clair

Happy Friday!  I hope all of you have had a great week and looking forward to the weekend like I am.  Today I get to share with you a great suspenseful romance, Eclipse Lake.  This will keep you turning the pages until you find out every hidden secret.  Mae Clair does a phenomenal job keeping you guessing.  You will definitely have a gasp and shock moment with this book.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.  I hope you all have a great weekend.  I also want to thank all of you who supported me and helped me win Blogger of the Year 2014.  You guys are awesome!!!

Small towns hold the darkest secrets.

Fifteen years after leaving his criminal past and estranged brother behind, widower Dane Carlisle returns to his hometown on the banks of sleepy Eclipse Lake. Now, a successful businessman, he has kept his troubled past a secret from most everyone, including his seventeen-year-old son.

But memories in small towns are bitter and long.

Ellie Sullivan, a nature photographer for a national magazine, has a habit of ping-ponging across the map. Her latest assignment leads her to Eclipse Lake where she becomes caught up in the enmity between Dane, his brother Jonah, and a vengeful town sheriff. When freshly-discovered skeletal remains are linked to an unsolved murder and Dane’s past, Ellie is left questioning her growing attraction for a man who harbors long-buried secrets.

Small towns have very long memories.  Unfortunately, for Dane that is a very bad thing. Dane left his home town a criminal with an even worse reputation.  But, he knows to move forward in his life he must tie up loose ends of his past.  When Dane decides to make a trip back home he thinks he is prepared for the worst.  The memories of this town won’t let him prove he is a changed man.  While Dane is desperately trying to repair what is broken he meets a photojournalist with a fiery attitude.  She takes him by surprise and together they find they may be able to repair damage done fifteen years ago and move ahead toward a promising life.

This was definitely one page turner that kept me guessing.  Just when you had the mystery solved something else popped up and you had to rethink your position on who did what.  Though the mystery really kept the story going so did the great characters.  Dane is the quintessential billionaire with a dark past.  I loved how complex his character really was.  You don’t necessarily think he deserves his happy ending at first but by the time your finishing the last page you are rooting for him.  Some of the side characters were definitely hard to get around though.  Jonah, Jesse and the sheriff were really hard to read at times.  It almost became unbelievable until they redeemed themselves or made certain revelations.  Unfortunately, even by the end I still couldn’t stand the Sheriff.  A great bond of story and characters allows for a page turner that keeps you guess about the mystery and envious of Ellie and Dane’s love affair.  Overall, this is another great novel by Mae Clair and I recommend this for anyone looking for a good book with lots of twists and turns.
