Guest Post: Author Megan S. Johnston

I’d like to welcome Megan S. Johnston today.  She is the author of the new book, Transition.  This is the first in her Chimera Hunters series.  You can find my book review on Transition here.  So, I hand the reigns over to Megan.  Take it away…

First, I would like to thank “The Book Maven”, for hosting me here today.

You would think my favorite type of heroes would be super heroes, because that’s what I write about, but it’s not. My favorite hero is the unsung one, the one who resides next to you, your mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters. It is the everyday heroes I admire most.

Firefighters and police officer are the ones who keep us safe. Each of their jobs is demanding in its own way. They both risk their lives on a daily bases to keep everyone as safe as they can.

As a law enforcement officer, it’s a daily unpredictability. Who will they have to chase down? Will the perpetrator carry a gun? Police Officers are in constant danger daily. Who should they trust? They can only rely on themselves to keep others and themselves safe. They are hated by many.

As a firefighter, the thought of running into a burning building to save lives is a scary thought. Who would do such a thing? Not many. Your brain would go into protect mode. But, a firefighter would. They are trained to keep themselves and other firefighters safe, while saving lives and homes. They are loved by many.

Some days I am sure they wish they could communicate telepathically, or instantly change into a different species. To have bullets bounce off their chest, and fire that would never burn their skin.  But these people are real and the bullets and fire not only kill, but a person could be marred for life.

So, here are two of my favorite heroes. Their jobs are demanding. They both put themselves in danger every day to save lives and homes.  One is loved and the other hated. But both are heroes in my eyes.

So, they split their race in half condemning them to wander the earth, searching for their other half to be complete. Without their sodalis, each was destined to live life without dreams, without love, without hope. The future rested on finding their one true mate for life.
